Alan Ball is really different this year. Much improved. Brett Maxie says being told that he has a real chance to start has changed his whole personality. He's much more forceful in calling out plays, directing the secondary, etc. He's making good reads on what the offense is doing and really seems to be on top of things. The team feels better about him being the starter, even though it's just OTAs, because of this.

Star of OTAs? Kevin Ogletree. Joe Juraszic has been talking him up and the coaches say he acts like he's ready to become more than a role player. (Also, Wade talked today about how playing special teams had toughened him up both physically and mentally.)

More to come after the break, I think.

Show me, Ogletree.

Seven catches is not enough to say you will be anymore than an interesting bench player.

Stocked at wide receiver. Absolutely stocked.

Give Ray Sherman a contract extension yesterday.

I love Ogletree's cuts out there when he is running. I really think our future at WR is Austin, Dez and Otree. I think they are going to be a great trio and if the OL holds up, Romo will be thoroughly re-writing the NFL's record books.

Yes, give the man a raise. He deserves it.

At this stage of his career, all you can talk about is potential as he hasn't been given enough opportunity to prove his worth on the field. It may not even happen this year unless RW11 tanks and Crayton is traded. Nevertheless, I think it will happen for him just as I thought it would eventually happen for Miles. The skills are there.

Maybe it's worth mentioning that Ogletree is roommates with David Buehler. This guy is around greatness a lot, so some of it has to rub off.

Dang Chief, I did not know that. I just ordered my Ogletree jersey and have checked out priceline.com for tickets to Canton in 2027.

If Tree, Free and Ball can become this year's versions of Spencer, Austin, and Jenkins, we are in for a hell of a ride.

Of course he has to show us more. But he was producing on the field last year in the limited amount of plays he got. Great production on bubble screens, tippytoe sideline catch....when his number got called, he delivered. Which is what you have to do when you are in his position.

This year he has to continue to improve, so that the coaches feel they must figure out how to get him more playing time. While only OTA preliminaries, earning this sort of praise is exactly what he needs to be doing.

Man I can't wait till preseason and see these guys in game action.

So many questions that need to be answered.

That might sound like hyperbole but I honestly agree. If the line does its job I think Romo could put up numbers rivaling Manning.

The thing that most people don't realize is that Romo's numbers are actually right there with the all-time greats. He is just underrated for some reason - maybe it is the golfing, dating popstars, general demeanor, lack of pedigree?

Only thing missing now is the ring.

He gets that, and he's right up there and will get all of the credit he rightfully deserves.

EXACTLY how I feel. Ogletree appears to be a very natural WR. He looks quick and smooth out there. Austin is big, strong, fast, and a proven Pro Bowler, Dez looks special.

The last 2 rookies who had everyone talking right off the bat were Ware and Felix - and it was justified. I think it will be the same way with Dez.

They took off to North Carolina to play golf together last week.

Romo is rubbing off.
