I just met some of my wifes family from California and they had never been to Texas.

"I pictured everyone in Texas always walking around in little Cowboy boots, lol"

" I expected everyone in cowboy hats, riding horses, lol"

NO I don't live on a ranch with cows and chickens everywhere, and no I don't have tumbleweeds blowin threw my front yard. And NO I don't ride a horse everywhere! Sheesh, that really chaps my beaver skin! ;)

Which leads me to the other sterotype I've heard about Texans....that the majority are overweight...which I never understood because 70% of America is probably overweight.

You have goofy stereotypes about many areas, sometimes there are those that make those steretypes look like truths.

About the weight thing in texas...I was thinking there was a report that Houston was the #1 or #2 fattest city in the USA (at least had the most number of overweight people).

Oh BTW...I seen more people in cowboys boots and hats while in Texas...then I ever seen in WV, Ohio and PA combined lol.

Later

One other thing...At least you don't have people from other states saying....So you live in the Western part of Virginia?

NO...West Virginia is a seperate state...what kind of edumacation did you get where you came from? :laugh2:

No....only the sexy ones. :D

I have horses, but its amazing the amount of people who think Texas is 90% sand and ranches filled with gun touting 3 tooth red necks with distillerys in the front yard drinkin whiskey at a card table playing poker watching the tumble weeds blowing threw their swinging saloon doors... ARGH... But then again I do own horses :lmao2:

Ya know, I just realized the reason I was having a problem with this thread is that I just assumed all the stereotypes were true. :D

Your mother has plastic over her furnature doesnt she Juke?! :lmao2:

Grandmother...but you were close.

It was a real pleasure coming off the streets in August, into the "parlor" and sitting on a plastic covered couch. When I'd get up, I sounded like human Velcro.

Actually, we here in western Virginia differentiate by referring to your neck of the woods as "West By Gawd" Virginia...

In West Virginia, they put their junker cars up on blocks in the front yard; in western Virginia, we hide them out in the back yard... we're much more civilized...

Holy crap, BP.
I was going to say exactly the same thing.

One of the stereotypes I can't get is this, "you're from VA? Do you sleep with your sister? he he he"

I was once asked that question and I responded by saying that stereotype applies to West Virginia, not Virginia and they said, "Western Virginia, Virginia, what's the difference?"

Um... it's a whole different state moron.
