NFL networks latest list - most elusive runners scraped to find 10 people for the list and yet they dont include the most elusive runner of the last 40 years (with the exception of Mr Run's Backwards all the time Barry Sanders). They exclude OJ Simpson. Thats a travesty, his killing someone doesnt mean these people should pretend he didnt exist, its ignorant.

I'd put him at the top of the list of elusive runners. He eluded going to prison for killing his wife and that other guy.

Forty years leaves out Gale Sayers. Still the most dangerous open field runner I ever saw.

I agree. I saw him play and the man was great.

I think Sanders was more elusive than Simpson. But Simpson was one of the best RBs to ever play the game. He could squirt through the hole for sure--hence, the juice.

Gale Sayers was really special too and more elusive than OJ in my mind too.

Amen.....+1

I found it interesting that in trying to come up with my own list I found there really aren't many of the top RB's in history that I would rank among the most elusive. By "elusive" I think of the guy with rare quickness who can change directions on a dime, duck out of tackles, and make moves that make your jaw drop. The reality is the NFL rushing list is more populated with guys who find seams and drive through them, keep their legs pumping annd fight for yardage. The may have great vision to see those seams (like Emmitt) and may have great balance (also like Emmitt), but they really aren't the scatter back types that I think of leaving people's jock on the turf.

When I think of "elusive", these are some of the guys that come to mind:

Sayers
Sanders
Joe Washington
Joe Morris
OJ
Warrick Dunn

 Guys O.J. was innocent.

The criminal jury said he was not guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and the civil jury found that he did it by a preponderance of the evidence. That is a loooonnng way from saying he was innocent. And, anybody with any common sense knows he did it. If the prosecutors hadn't been absolutely inept, he'd be in prison for it to this day.

Relax, I think his comment was in jest.

The race card being played trumps any ineptness by the prosecutors.

The prosecution was simply out lawyered by OJ's dream team.

The jurors were also lacking. It takes special(ed) people to ignore the evidence and instead be hypnotized by the rhythmic cadence of a man who was the legal profession's version of Jesse Jackson.

No doubt the juice was guilty as sin.

You don't think Dorsett was elusive?

Gale Sayers- I was just old enough to start to understand football - and they showed highlights of his 6 TD game against the 49rs- like on the sunday night sports part of the news. I remember my father saying that it was unbelievable. I have seen the film of that game many times over the years. it was like the 49rs and everyone else were in slow motion compared to him.
