Most important game in years

Carolina is shaping up to be that important. Not only will this game play an important role in showing how far the Cowboys will or won't go in '06, this single game could show us the direction of the Cowboys for the forseeable future.

IF Bledsoe starts the game, we'll know that Parcells doesn't think Romo is the answer and we're in for a long bumpy ride until Dallas finds a QB that is.

IF Romo starts, the possibilties are plentiful. Maybe he plays fantastic, maybe he lays an egg, maybe he's mediocre but anyway he plays will show us the character of the others on the team. Who steps up on the line or on defense to take over a leadership role with a newbie QB. This team's identity will be forged on Sunday night in Charlotte.

It's also a big game for Carolina. Should be a great game.

I tend to think the "big game of the year" was Monday night.

I think coming out of this 3 game road trip no worse that 2-1 is important.

In this age of over-hype, the Cowboys have at least a couple (and usually 3 or 4) "biggest games of the year."

This seems to be the theme every week.

I was thinking the same thing when I read the title of the thread.

I have impatiently waiting for a game that is just not important this season. :laugh1:

This game pales in significance to this past Monday. Other than the beginning of the Romo era, I do not attach special significance to this game. Perhaps I'm being pessimistic, but I am not expecting great results this week.

Every game's important in a season seeing as there's only 16 of them, but this game carries importance for the next few years.

If Romo's not the answer, it will be at least a few years until that answer's found. There's not a FA QB out there for next year that looks like they could win a SB unless the defense steps up huge.

I believe we already know the answer to that one. :banghead:

We don't neccessarily do. Maybe they get more aggresive because they know they have a first time starter on the other side of the ball. Maybe Romo lights a fire under the offense that carries over to the defense. Maybe the defense folds up and mails it in because they think the season's over.

We will need several games to determine if Romo is the real deal. I wouldn't put too much on his performance in this game either way.

Yep...one game does not make or break whether Romo is or is not the future QB for this team....unless Carolina severly injures or kills him.

Besides the Playoff Game, we have played pretty well against the Carolina Panthers since Bill has gotten here.

This may be a stretch, considering what Tucker, Petitti and Rivera brought to the table last year and the 2003 line, but I think this is the worst Offensive Line Unit we have had to work with.

I wonder if the 2nd Giants Gameplan from 2005 will be at play here. Go max protect and send 2 and something 1 receiver on a route and just run the ball.

Maybe with Romo's mobility, he doesn't go so conservative, who knows.

I think part of our problem with the Giants was we did not attempt to run enough.

I know people get mad about running the ball too much, bill being to conservative, not getting the ball to TO and so on.

But I really feel we did not run enough vs the Giants and stats may prove me wrong on the season as a whole but I think there have been other games where we could have runned more.

Even if the run is not working like you want it too, you still have to keep it in the game to help keep D's honest.

The only game I can think of is the Eagles game. I remember, myself along with the Analyst at Halftime wondering why Julius didnt carry the ball more in the 1st Half. That game, we came out throwing I believe the first 5 or 6 plays before even starting the run.

Im with March Schlereth, they need to dumb things down for the Offensive Line (maybe they have already) and focus entirely on blitz pickup and protecting the QB.

I didnt like the game plan against the Giants in the 2nd Game last year, but I think we need might have to dumb down the offense again, keep Witten in Blocking and go to 1-2 man routes and try to run the ball and keep the game close with our defense.
