For me, someone born in 84 and had just started fallowing the Cowboys BIG TIME at 10 I cried when we lost to the 9ers in 94...but my biggest moment was Larry Browns game sealing pick a year later in sb XXX, I still remember my dad(packers fan) getting upset because I was just running around screaming, lol.

Either the INT thrown in the back of the endzone in the Packers game at the Cotton Bowl 1966 or the TD Starr scored in the Ice Bowl. We win either or esp both of those games and that turns the tide a great deal esp likely 1-2 more SB victories.

Yup. Thoroughly demoralized Miami on the 29 yard sack in giving them any hopes of coming back in SB6. Still the sweetest victory in Cowboy history IMO. Young fans dont know what they missed.

I'm not sure when I watched that game but my dad had it recorded on VHS? Or something in its entirety. Watched it as a little kid after we won in 95 because I needed to "understand what this win means as a Cowboys fan."

Great game.

The catch Montana to Clark 1982. If it wasn't for the Niners we could of had more SB trophies.

Several good ones already posted. Here is one that cost us a SB.

That play happened with 2:46 left in the third quarter.

Just like the Crayton drop at midfield (with Dallas in the lead) that everyone thinks was the reason why we lost.

There were other contributing factors that led to the losses, but revisionist history seems to paint these plays like they happened with :10 left in the game.

Even "The Catch" was a winnable game.

They are frustrating moments, but they did not "cost" the team a win.

That was terrible.

Then Harris runs it in after the official picks off Charlie Waters.

Then the decision Randy White made to try to run back a kickoff running upright with a cast on his hand. He should have just fielded it and fell down. Instead he fumbled and Bradshaw hit Swann.

You never hear about those things.

You just get the Cliff Notes version blaming Jackie Smith along with Verne Lundquist talking about him being the sickest man in America.

People forget he made a play against Atlanta for a TD that kept Dallas alive in the playoffs in the first place.

Staubach to Ron Sellers. Captain Comeback was born and from that point forward Staubach was the undisputed leader of the Cowboys.

Lilly's 29 yard sack of Griese in the first SB victory by the Cowboys.
The longest sack in SB history and probably the history of the NFL by one of the greatest players to play the game, getting a team that couldn't win the big one to its first championship in its 6th straight first place finish in the division.

Also, that 71 Cowboys team is regarded as one of the greatest teams ever in the NFL.
Walt Garrison, Duane Thomas, and Calvin Hill combined to rush for 1,690 yards in just 14 games.
Roger Staubach had a season QB rating of 104.8 when the league average was 62.2, and he had an 8.9 yards per attempt with 18 TDs to only 4 interceptions.

Offense scored 406 points while Doomsday only allowed 222. Doomsday allowed only 3 points by the Dolphins in that SB win, 24-3, but they only allowed one TD in the previous 25 quarters leading up to the SB!

Defense? Try these numbers on for size.

Just the LBs had 9 interceptions in 14 games in an era with less passing; Edwards and Jordan each had 2 ints, and my man, Chuck Howley had 5.
CB's Herb Adderley and Mel Renfro combined for 10 more ints, and the safeties--Cliff Harris and Cornell Green had another 4.

Bob Lilly led the DL which included Jethro Pugh. So I pick that sack as the play that represents one of the all time great teams in the NFL.

It's definitely the biggest and most important win in Dallas Cowboys history

Eddie LeBaron to Jim Doran 75 yard pass. First points in Cowboys History in a regular season game.

I'm with the OP, Aikman to Harper in the NFCCG was a thing of beauty.
That took guts, we go 3 and out and it could have cost us the SB and maybe even more.

That play gets my vote for the modern era. It was huge.

Scary thing is, it was a mistake.

Geez folks. Romo's botched hold. Peppers amazing strip of Murray. These are big. We might be singing a different tune if these went our way.

It was the most important play of the 90's Cowboys!

Since the play happened in the 90's does that some how make it less important than a play that happened in a previous decade?
