This is how NFL teams value positions based on the top contracts Average Annual Value.
(Most years CB has been above Off-Ball LB but Wagner is better at his position than the CBs that have signed contracts recently)
QB
35 Russell Wilson

EDGE (3-4 OLB or 4-3 DE)
23.5 Khalil Mack

WR
22 Julio Jones

OT
18 Lane Johnson

LB (Off-Ball)
18 Bobby Wagner

CB
16.68 Darius Slay

RB
16 McCaffery

OG
15 Scherff

Safety
14.6 Eddie Jackson

OC
11.25 Hudson (OGs Scherff and Zack Martin are better players than OC Hudson)

TE
10.6 Hunter Henry

The Franchise Tag number also give you and idea of how position are valued.
OL includes all OL.
LB includes Edge players and Off-Ball LBs.

$24.87 Quarterback
$17.13 Defensive End
$16.79 Wide Receiver
$16.02 Cornerback
$15.44 Linebacker
$15.21 Defensive Tackle
$14.07 Offensive Linemen
$11.21 Running Back
$11.15 Safety
$10.39 Tight End

I bet the TE positional value starts surging upward over the next 2-3 years.

After QB, LT, and Edge Rusher, it just comes down to what positions you need the most from to win consistently. That’s not the same on every team because of differences in schemes and coaching styles.

Interesting numbers. In your opinion, would you say it’s “smarter” to draft the expensive positions (CB, WR, DE) and sign free agents at the cheaper positions (TE, OC, RB)? I’m not including QB because that’s different. It seems like we take an opposite approach. We draft centers and trade/pay receivers.

Is fullback part of running back? If so then the fullbacks are dragging the running backs numbers down. Or is fullback it's own thing and you just left them out?

Good info though.
Is info it's own word now are do we still need to put a period behind info to signify it's an abbreviation?
:lmao:

Let's hope this draft won't see us drafting strictly to fulfill needs. Let's face it -- we've gotten into trouble doing so in the past. We have enough needs to pick the best players available at those positions and still manage to better ourselves greatly in doing so. Hopefully, we'll follow McCarthy's policy of sticking to the most talented players at the positions most suited to our requirements. May this draft prove to be our best friend in 2020! ;)
