the process of how he keeps his job.
he knows the fo is risk-averse.
they want to try out key coaches before letting them take over

Think how good he is to lead the NFC over the last three years with a drunken owner, his fool of a son, terrible assistants all around him, and a QB none of y'all think can throw a football.

Garrett the last 3 seasons has been one of the best HC's in the NFL.

Enough talent and quality assistants will do that. His ability to keep the team believing is good, but when it comes to a chess match in games where we're getting punched back he never has an answer.

And out of all of that non sense I still dont know what Garrett does coach wise to put him above anybody else in the FO.

I am beginning to believe 95% of the success comes from the players.

The other 5% comes from Jason Garrett clapping for 16 games.

When does the season start. At least then, there'd be something to complain about.

    I laughed out loud.

I do agree with the post though. I mean our OC's and DC's have been straight dumpster trash. 2 bum coaches from a bum organization like detroit. 1 of which was the first coach to go 0-16 ever. Yeh that would have been a hard pass from me.

It's a dysfunctional situation, but Garrett still makes bad in game decisions. Wasn't it interesting that after JJ was publicly critical of Garrett's game decisions we started going for it more on 4th down?

Was wade phillips a good head coach? Does he strike you as someone who'll get another shot? Bill Belicek made Mcvay look like Jason Garrett last weekend.

i would prefer a hc who brings x and o for either defense or offense.
i do not watch non-cowboys games, but my understanding is mcvay looked bad but his qb flopped.

Garrett was promoted to HC in 2011.
    2011 OC - Garrett
    2011 DC - Rob Ryan

    2013 OC - Bill Callahan
    2013 DC - Marinelli/Kiffin

    2014 OC - Linehan
    2014 DC - Marinelli

    2019 OC - Moore

Sean McVay had less experience when first hired as an OC and even when hired as a Head Coach than all of the Coordinators during Garrett's HC tenure until now with Moore as the new OC.

    Early coaching career
McVay began his coaching career as an assistant wide receivers coach with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2008 under head coach Jon Gruden. The following year, he was the quality control/wide receivers coach for the Florida Tuskers of the United Football League(UFL).

    Washington Redskins
In 2010, McVay was hired as the assistant tight ends coach for the Washington Redskins under head coach Mike Shanahan. In 2011, he was promoted to tight ends coach, a position he held through the 2013 season.

On January 14, 2014, McVay was promoted to offensive coordinator by new Redskins head coach Jay Gruden.

    Los Angeles Rams
On January 12, 2017, McVay was hired to become the 28th head coach of the Los Angeles Rams at the age of 30 years, 11 months, 19 days. The hiring made him the youngest head coach since the start of the NFL's modern era, surpassing Lane Kiffin, who was 31 years, 8 months, 14 days old when hired by the Oakland Raiders in 2007,[17] and the youngest in NFL history since the Rams hired 27-year-old Art Lewis in 1938.[18]

my point is that the jones r risky averse, and they appear to prefer candidates that have been inhouse so they know what they r getting in dallas.
moore is the exception but they did get him in as qb coach for 1 year.
so it serves garrett's self-interest to purge people like callahan from the staff.
