Most Improved Player

yes sir

It was a one on one drill though.

Offense has a huge advantage.

Advantage or not, that guy was starting last year. Not to mention that was as basic as routes get and the ball stayed in the air for a long while causing him to slow down.

I guess this isn't something we don't already know but Reeves sucked, sucks, will always suck.

According to the lunchbreak with Eatman, a couple of coaches are saying ....wr Mike Jefferson...."...by end of last year was regularly beating Newman and Henry"

Then why didn't the coaches give him a chance? :bang2:

They suggested that Austin could be gone, as his kick return duties could be taken by Stanback or Felix.
Both Hurd and Austin better step it up in a hurry. Owens, Crayton, and Stanback are almost guaranteed to make the roster. If Glenn is healthy, he will also make the roster. That leaves two spots for receivers. With both Jefferson and Amodella (sp?) impressing the coaches, it's going to be tough for Hurd and Austin to make the team.

If they aren't ready to go this year their 3 years are up.

Maybe we can trade both of them to the Dolphins for a 5th rounder.

I don't think Hurd is going anywhere. He is the most rounded of the young receivers and he is excellent on special teams. We've already lost K. Davis on ST we aren't letting Hurd walk.

Well, I hope someone starts to push for not only roster spots but playing time. At least create difficult decisions for the coaching staff concerning who makes the roster or not.

It's about time drafted and undrafted players became threats to not only start in this league but star in it. How many players have we developed into a Tony Hill or Butch Johnson not to mention Michael Irvin?

Doesn't it scare anyone that an UDFA is beating our 2 best cornerbacks?
Just a thought!

For some reason, I think guys like Newman probably turn their game down a bit when they see guys named "Mike Jefferson" lined up across from them.

So much for the old adage.....You play like you practice!

god are you kidding? hurd is physically limited, at best he is a adequate 3rd or 4th wide receiver in this league. lol, you make it sound like he was a 1st round pick.

That's 2 of our WRs (Stanbach & Jefferson) who members of the coaching staff have claimed are regularly beating starting CBs Newman & Henry. Must admit I don't know anything about Jefferson; hopefully he has speed /good hands. We need more from our young WRs (Hurd, Austin, Stanbach or Jefferson) in regular season games then we saw last year. Can't wait til TC/preseason games. Would love to say -- Wow who is that guy.

Also am curious about the undrafted WRs we bringing into rookie minicamp & TC. Have read about Bradford, Amendola but don't know anything about West (?).

Well good-really...as much as I would love this team to bring in a veteran wideout like Roy or Boldin, IF our young guys are ready to step in, why not? We'll be saving salary cap space to boot.

Has anybody actually heard that Stanback is improving? There seem to a lot of hopes around him (including mine) but he hasnt done anything yet.

Anybody know the current status of Watkins, Free, Martin and the other young OL whose name escapes me currently? Are/were they coming along?

oh, Felix will be returning kicks but you need two guys back there so I can see Austin being the other, mainly b/c he's an OK blocker as well. Austin is a good ST contributor and he seemed to be on the verge of taking Hurd's PT at one point.

People remember the drops against Washington but he probably should be better remembered for drawing those huge PI calls against GB

I agree Hurd is no more than a 3rd or 4th receiver but he can come in and play all the WR positions in a pinch. Plus he is a main contributor on special teams. Until they get somebody on the roster who can take his place by playing special teams and all the WR positions he is staying.

We have enough depth we should be ok with STs. We should certainly have gotten better at returning kicks, especially if Adam Jones gets reinstated.
