Most indicators has Cowboys going CB with 1st pick

I seen a list having Farley ranked at 11 and Surtain at 15. So a slight trade down if both are still on the board is ok with me. Especially if Horn is still there as well.

Especially since as of yesterday, it was CBS site that had them ranked that way. And had Horn ranked 27th.
But yet their own people have us taking Horn at #10.

Before all the "NO, we need Pitts/Sewell/Slater/Paye" etc. posts start, just let it be said the Cowboys have so many needs any of the people mentioned would be of value to the team.

I'm for Surtain myself, but I'm also not wringing my hands in anguish if Horn or Sewell or even Pitts is taken instead....

If Jerry has proven anything over the years it's that he'll do what people least expect. If the talking heads say CB, I'll go with OL or DL.

That's been my point all along, there are at least 5 positions of need right now, it's almost hard to argue any pick outside of WR.

So last year with CeeDee Lamb on the board, it seemed more fans said you can't pass on Lamb, so he did take him. I guess once every 10 years he did the right thing.

I would love Surtain or Horn... but not at #10. At #10, I want a slam dunk elite talent. That means Pitts, Sewell or Slater. If we end up with Surtain, I'll be fine with it. But a little disappointed.

I said at the time I wasn't "on board" with the Lamb pick. Hard to tell without Dak in the lineup all year, but we ended up 6-10 with the 31st ranked defense, sure Lamb appears to be a top prospect, but what could the Cowboys have done with a defensive player instead of Lamb?

But we've hashed that out already, just saying that in my view Jerry may not have "did the right thing". We'll see how it works out in the next couple of years. Maybe Cooper gets hurt a lot again, Gallup tears an acl, etc. and Lamb is the calvary...

Regardless of what we do with our first pick, this FO must determine how to get the best talent and coaching available before we'll see, smell or acquire another Super Bowl team. It's been 25 years and holding for that. Our 1st pick is hardly the key! Wake up, Jerry! You too, Stephen! Get a clue, FO!

Almost impossible Horn or Surtain is available at 44, though, so we'd end up with a second tier cb at 44, combining need with bpa I can't agree with taking Pitts, etc. Though like you, I'd be a little but not a lot disappointed if they did.

Have to temper expectations, considering our 25-plus year drought of SBs, I'll just sit back and see what happens. Long past the point where I live and die with Cowboys wins and losses...

If we don’t go CB in 1st round. Who’s our other starting CB?

Perhaps that’s better for another thread

3rd rushing end
Starting 1 tech
Outside linebacker
Corner
Free safety

I really only see Corner, Free safety and 1 tech contributing week 1. Corner would be the likely only starter

I can't get behind Farley over Surtain, as the saying goes, the best ability is availability. The back surgery is a big concern, it was done because of a disk problem, just can't see Farley having a long career if at age 22 or such he's already got a herniated disk, and I do take the long view of the Cowboys' success....

its a fluid situation, if 5 QBs go in the top 9 picks then there is a very good chance either sewell or Slater will be available at 10.

Agreed. Let him go somewhere with depth and he will have a nice career. I just can’t put him as my day one starter playing every snap on defense and not worry about getting hurt

I'd have to add OT to that list. Smith's on borrowed time and Collins' surgery was major, and none of the backups are anywhere near Smith and Collins' level...

Maybe because the natural assumption (or at least the most profitable and salacious perception fostered) is that the Cowboys will screw it up and reach.

I noticed that three of the biggest perceptions they display daily on sports shows like The Herd are 1)Lebron is the KING, 2)Tom Brady is the ultimate, noble GOAT, and 3)Dallas’ FO is perpetually the “laughingstock of the NFL”! They’ll really be hard pressed for buzz when Lebron and Brady retire and Dallas wins their next one! Kinda like late night “comedians” after 46 replaced 45, eh?

Possibly. But if they are comfortable with their health they could ride with Ty, Steele and Knight another year.

They wanted Erving back but offered him peanuts lol

We'll get one, sooner or later and it'll likely be a good one. Let's make the most of each and every round after that and we'll be fine. ;) What if we got Parsons in the first round? Would you be awfully disappointed? I wouldn't. Chances are, another good one would be available in round two.

I think, and I may be wrong. But they may think they can plug in Lewis, or Brown even, while a CB from the 2nd round develops. I disagree with that, if that is what they think. However, there are a few CB's in the 2nd round that could develop into a starter by the end of the year. Or can even be plugged in to play and learn right away.

If that is the way it works, I won't complain, as he can't be worse than Awuzie, and he was a plug and play and learn. Not great but not horrible as he seems to not be able to turn his head and look at the same time.
