Most Overrated QBs (Aikman #4 )

I have always thought Aikman was overated.

You can't be serious:lmao2:

The knucklehead that created this list needs to get a clue! As a Dallas Cowboys fan, I have had the privilege of watching two of the best QBs to ever play the game, Roger Staubach and Troy Aikman.

For Troy to be on this list is total insanity. Whoever created it is totally clueless. As is anyone that would agree with them ;)

Indeed. Troy played his best in crunchtime, for every 1994 game I can show you 3 soul crushing decisions made by the Golden #4.

He was a Super Bowl MVP as a QB for christ sake, the guy was much better than just good.

I want to email this to Michael for his show on Monday. I have a feeling his response would be priceless.

Gee - you think that Michael might have a different opinion? :lmao2:

How is Steve Young not on this list? I'd have him at #2 or 3.

I'd also stick Jim Kelly on there long before Aikman and Elway as well.

No mention of the Green Bay drama queen?

Hey look, Corey Webster is open!

because they are stat ******, they probably have Marino and Favre at the top of their lists for greatest all-time. To me Marino is the best example of a system QB

I agree with that, I've always said that you could have plugged any Qb in there and they would have succeeded with the players that surrounded Aikman.

Why Bret Farve's name not on this list?

If Aikman's on there...... then Brady's name should be there also. :starspin

This list looks like some S*** that Skip Bayless would put together just to get a reaction. Whoever wrote this article was desperate for folk to read their writing. He obviously didn't watch much of any of them.

Troy would have had a better overall rating if he wasn't in a running system. The Boys' of the 90's ran the ball behind a mammoth line. He obviously was a great QB. There were many times his passer rating was in the 90's and lead the league.

...at least one Hall of Fame offensive lineman (Larry Allen)
Aikman picked up 2 rings and went to 3 Pro Bowls before Allen even joined the team.

i would agree that if you only looked at Aikman's numbers then yea it would be easy to say that aikman is overrated. but you gotta look at the entire situation and well aikman it was never needed for him to throw that much. i mean we did win 3 SuperBowls with our style of offense. and Aikman still was one of the most accurate passers of all time and was as clutch as they came. i guess i would agree he was overrated only if someone tried to argue he is a top 5 QB of all time but otherwise its pretty stupid to say he was overrated. he had all the tools of a great QB! and Elway being on that list is an even bigger joke, he in my mind is the greatest QB of all time!!!

Is the "writer" the same guy who writes the Golf blogs that slam Romo all the time. Seems to be about the same I.Q working here. I mean he says Elway was "not a great passer" then in his under rated QB's he has Chad Pennington on there?

Everytime I read one of these I go back and find an old Dr.Z article where Mike Giddings, who rand Pro Scount Inc. and who watched about every football game in the 90s and sold player evaluations to about 13 NFL teams picked his players of the 90s.

It's worth a read if just for the memories and of course was done in August 2000, so right after the 1990s were finished.

Anyway, by his measure, Aikman was as good as or better than Farve, Elway, TYoung, Marino, Kelly etc. Reading his ratings, he'd have likely picked Aikman as the best QB of the 90s.

Argh.

People need to stop comparing passing stats from one era to the next. Yes, Fouts' QB rating wasn't all that impressive when you compare to all time QB's. But it needs to be compared to other QB's during his playing days. There's still a huge difference in the passing game from the 80's to the 90's and even from the 90's to the present day.
