Subject: Hey Dan... a loyal subscriber & a Cowboy fan...

It's apparent the Cowboys need a future "Romo".
Who's most "Romo-like"? Amongst Cowboy fans we've been talking some about Shane Carden, Romo-size. Nice YPA. High completion percentage.

Take care,

Mike W.

Michael, Thank you for your comments. Right now, I too would go along with Carden from East Carolina. Cheers, Dan

Shane Carden is very comparable.

But honestly I dont care if they are like Romo as long as they can ball

I prefer another Romo type. He excels in the pocket, has a great quick release, has had enough mobility to get outside and the improvisational ability to create when things break down. He's also a tough guy.

That's my kind of QB. If I was getting greedy I'd want a little more arm strength.

It would great if we landed another Romo, but when we replace him, we clearly shouldn't filter out QBs that have a different play style

I'll have to sit down and watch more of him, but from what I've seen I'm not crazy about Carden's arm strength. In what I have seen I didn't see much zi[ on his ball, could be a guy that struggles once the competition gets better and the windows to throw in shrink....but again I have to watch more of him to get a better idea.

I'm with you on this for sure.

I like the sound of that. We don't get many East Carolina games in Kansas does Shane Carden fit the bill to you?

The one thing I don't like about him is his delivery. It's a little funky. He's got a wind up motion to him.

I agree his delivery is an issue at this point in his career for the NFL. IMO not quite a Romo clone, seems to be much taller and of course faster. Drafting where we should be this year we are going to get some warts with a QB pick not matter which round.

I'll take a Romo, type or a Staubach type or Aikman type thank you very much. All 3 different but effective

The good thing about finally building the Oline with top notch players through the draft is that we have a young group that is still growing but if for some reason we drafted a young QB to come in and play (whether it be to take over for romo or due to a romo injury)...it opens up a window of different types of QBs you can have.

I think in the past we needed someone like Romo who was so mobile and escape busted plays all the time. A pure pocket passing statue back there would not have lasted. With the oline getting better and the run game getting better...you could go with a traditional pocket passing type guy (P.Manning type) and be ok.

I do however like the idea of getting a guy a QB in the upcoming draft that might not be a 1st day draft pick. I think we will be looking for defense early next year and there are multiple positions on D we could use so there should be a BPA that would fit a need as well.
