Most underrated need on D

The most pressing need on this team that doesn’t get talked about is a pass rushing DT. Everyone keeps talking about a run stuffing 1 Tech (which is also a need), but we have no legit talent that can consistently create pressure up the middle. Osa is a fine rotational player that flashes on occasion, but he’s literally all we have at DT that can rush the passer at all. If this defense wants to take the next step forward a consistent pass rusher up the middle is absolutely necessary. The odds of that coming from free agency is almost 0 due to price so it must be found in the draft.

Thoughts on favorite pass rushing DT’s in this draft and the need for it?

The chances of getting a pass rushing dt in the draft to produce year 1 is slim to none. FA is the only fix if we're looking at 2023

They'll only draft a DT early if he has pass rush ability.

Gervon Dexter can do both.

Our pass rush was about as good as it gets this year and I think Osa is coming along nicely.

This years DT class is better to get a run plugger than pass rusher. It’s a bunch of dudes that are similar to Gallimore as prospects.

Pass rush was good, but could have been better. We got 5 sacks (maybe 6 if you count Golston) from the DT position all season. That’s awful, we need more production from the position. The QB had way too many opportunities to step up in the pocket to avoid sacks from Micah and the other edge rushers.
And even if Osa takes the next step (far from a guarantee), we still need someone to rotate with him.

Pass rush in a DT is a bonus; he first must be able to stuff the run. Have we not seen the result of not having that for years?

People get caught up on pass rush; but it was the run where we were so vulnerable.

When I see a DT that is graded all over the map and is "polarizing" with the scouts, I get worried that he's another Trysten Hill.
Hill had the motor of a push lawn mower. Not necessarily saying draft Kancey, just not a good comp IMO

No doubt. Not anything like Hill. My concerns are size related. That likely keeps him out of round 1. But he’s got some serious pass rush tools as an interior player.

Pass rush is a very critical part of a DT's responsibilities. Definitely not a "bonus "

There are no really complete defensive tackle players in the draft...Ika is probably the closest thing but I suspect he'll need time to develop.

The one DT in this class with serious pass rush juice, aside from all-world stud Carter, is Kancey. All the other early rounders look like NT types.
