Most underrated need on D

BPA in order, regardless of position.
I think our selection position dictates getting our needs in FA and trying to harvest BPA in the draft. Clearly, our best players of late have been acquired with this method.

The one DT in this class with serious pass rush juice, aside from all-world stud Carter, is Kancey. All the other early rounders look like NT types.
Bryan Breese definitely has pass rush juice. Wasn’t nearly as consistent as he could have been at Clemson, but the flashes he did show looked very high level 3 Tech type of DT.

I'm not sure how the most pressing need on the roster other than QB can be underrated.

Yes, we need DTs. Plural. Not just a run stuffer.

Hill had the motor of a push lawn mower. Not necessarily saying draft Kancey, just not a good comp IMO
Completely wrong.

Coaches said he played with top much effort resulting in over-running plays.

Thanks, I forgot about him. I'll need to watch some cutups on Bresee.

I’m skeptical this really gets addressed this offseason, just too many other needs to prioritize. DLaw has essentially become that interior pass rusher, and I don’t see how that changes as parsons will take on end spot on passing downs, and we probably see more Sam williams this year at the other with Armstrong rotating in.

My guess is they target resigning Hankins or another cheaper vet to play 1T, pair with OSA as starters and not add a real pass rush difference maker unless one falls in their lap.

Yeah watching the guy for 5 minutes you can tell he went all out on the field. Maybe he was still lazy in practice or in the offseason idk, but it’s crazy how these college stigmas stick with players accurate or not.

Hills issue was that he was a marginal developmental talent to begin with that was drafted too high. Rod marinelli wouldn’t go out of his way to draft a 2nd round dlineman without a high motor.

He had an odd build. Reportedly some coaches said he looked like a cow on roller skates.

IMHO, as far as the defensive needs go it's CB, LB, DT, DE in that order.
Don't get me wrong I agree that we have long since needed a stud DT, but we do have some fairly decent guys. And unfortunately this team doesn't prioritize the position. Not only that, finding true beasts inside who can both pass rush and stop the run is almost as hard as finding an elite QB. I don't think they will take that leap when they need a starting shut down CB, a stud MLB and a replacement for the aging D-Law.
