It probably only seems that way because it's more shocking when a woman does it, and generates a ton more publicity. I'm sure the raw numbers have men in the lead.

A man called 911 in Young County about 6:40 p.m. Wednesday and reported he had killed his children, according to details in a probable cause affidavit.

Investigators learned the cellphone number matched that of a man said to have sent a picture — showing a child who appeared to be hanged — to the baby's mother.

The affidavit detailed events that began unfolding Wednesday evening in Graham. Family members' concerns sparked an intense search for two little boys, one who was 2 and the other less than one year. The case led to the arrest of the boys' father on a capital murder charge.

Gabriel Armandariz, 28, was booked into the Young County Jail on one count of capital murder, Trooper Tony Fulton, public information officer for the Texas Department of Public Safety, said Friday. The Texas Rangers and the Graham Police Department have been investigating the case, and Fulton said it is still early in the investigation.

This town is about an hour away from where I live. The guy didn't kill himself, so not exactly the same. But he absolutely killed the kids to get back at the mother. Sent the mom a picture by text message showing a 6 month old baby hanging. Just disgusting.

Nobody could ever convince me that there is one reason that that guy should still be breathing.

We should be careful when we do it, but in this case he should have been executed publicly within 48 hours of sending that text.

Our society is disgusting.

postpartum depression seems to me on the upswing these days , or the media is reporting it more frequently or something.

I don't think postpartum depression typically last that long. From what I have read her youngest was two years old. If it was postpartum, I'd bet she has a history of depression.

Either way, depression isn't an excuse for doing something like this. Based on the Facebook update, I'd say this was more than the typical depressive suicide.

From the few people I have talked to who have experience with mental disorders, the real depressive suicides come from people who appear to be well and fine. Anyone who shouts out they are going to kill them self is most likely just asking for some attention.

I'd say this lady is far more screwed up than just depression. She'd likely qualify as a sociopath.

Letting someone sit on death row for a dozen years is ridiculous.
