The fact the guy got thrown from his bike in the direction he was saved his life. If he gets thrown anywhere else, he probably doesn't live.

That makes me cringe. I just bought a brand new Suzuki Boulavard 3 weeks ago. 3 Year ago I owned one.. until someone rear ended me at a red light. Broke my left wrist in 2 places had to have 2 surgeries to repair. I came down and hit the ground so hard it smashed my helmet and ripped it off my head, the neck strap burnt/cut my neck ripping off. No helmet and that woulda been the left side of my skull.
Had 2 crashes on the last bike. The rear end, and someone pulled out in front of me once and i literally tipped my bike to avoid a T-bone. Rolling acrossed concrete SUCKS. Anyone who isn't wearing a jacket/helmet is an idiot.
I hate that saying "Helmet just gives you brain damage instead of death, I'd rather just die".
Perhaps that's more realistic if you crash doing 50mph. But you only need to be going like 15mph leave the majority of your face on the road if you slide acrossed it.
If you ride, PLEASE wear a helmet.
