What are you guys thoughts about moving Ware back to linebacker and utilizing him like the broncos do with Von Miler. This would preserve his career IMO and also strengthen our linebacking corps because he is great against the run.

So you want Ware, one of the premier pass rushers in league history, dropping into coverage 80-85% of the time?

What have you seen from Ware's ability to stop the run or cover receivers that makes this seem like a good idea? He is a pass rusher, that is it.

He is good against the run when they run right into him....imagine him having to track them down.

I thought the move to DE was to preserve his career?? Less moving around and more getting to the QB.

How about moving him to Montreal and have him play for the Alouettes in the CFL?

So completely destory the DL and create a huge liability in the passing game... we should also make witten a FB and Austin a wildcat QB...o_O

I am really upset that I didn't think of this idea first.:( I know Carter was bad, but I don't think he was that bad. I mean, yeah, Ware can cover Danny Woodhead.

Forget DE. Forget LB. Heck, forget defense altogether. Let's move Ware to TE.:)

Here I am trying to figure out how to get Ware to take a huge paycut after his pedestrian, injury-prone performance last year or outright cut him, and it never donned on me to move him to a position requiring even more skill.

How about we just move Ware off the team after his pathetic performance last year. He's likely done. Let some other team pay millions for his disappearing Houdini act. I've seen that act enough.

Ware isn't done. He still has some game left in him. He just doesn't have $12.5M worth of game anymore.

Ware would have been better off staying as an edge rusher in a 3-4. I never liked the move to a 4-3. But now that it's done, he's a DE and nothing else.

Cover 2 messes that up for us but if we play like the Seahawks and Broncos do 4-3 or at least on pass rushing downs, have 4 down lineman and him roaming too where he wants too rush would be nice. Just saying.

OLB in a 4-3 drop into coverage far more often than they rush the passer. If DeMarcus Ware drops into coverage once, it's once too many.

Yet Miller has in his 3 year career 35 sacks, 29 tackles for a loss, and only 7 passes defended. That sounds like someone who is playing at the LOS

Von Miller is a LB in name only. He is essentially a pass rushing specialist. And a pretty good one too.

Ware as a full time 4-3 LB would not be good for a number of reasons.

However, as an occasional formation it could have some merit. If Kyle Wilber can play Strong Side LB then I'm sure Ware can do anything that Wilber can. The SLB is off the field in the nickel. Having Ware at SLB could provide some overload pass rush options in non-nickel situations. Ware lined up on the same side a Selvie would be interesting.

Von Miller spent the first two years of his career as a LBer in a 3-4 scheme. Just as Ware did for every year except this past one. His first and foremost responsibility in the 3-4 WAS to rush the passer. Now that he's in a 4-3, it's not his primary responsibility. If you have a 4-3 OLB rushing the passer, then you have to have a DE who can drop into coverage to take up the slack.
