Move Gurode back to guard

LOL... What am I saying I was one of the people who said to move Gurode to center in 2004.

But fact I think we're better off in the future if we've got our top 5 guys out there. I can't honestly believe AJ isn't one of them.

Let Gurode replace Rivera next year.

I have no problem doing this if we can find a stronger center. I was one of the ones who really liked A.Johnson, but after pre-season, I've seen enough.

He would do really good at guard, but we need a suitable center to replace him.

I have been discussing this situation with my older brother since last year. Gurode, in my opinion, is a much better center than guard. He does better when is man is in front of him. Gurode at Center allows Rivera and Kosier to break off their man and pull on sweeps. Johnson just doesn't look strong enough to go 1 on 1 with a D lineman. I am one of Rivera's biggest critics, but he is much better/stronger than Johnson.

I think leaving Gurode right where he is at is the best course of action.

When the knock on the guy is that he struggles with the mental aspect of the game, I don't think moving him right when he appears to be "getting it" is the wisest move.

Leave Gurode at center, nothing is broke, so leave it alone. Johnson was not strong enough nor is he big enough for that job. Now Johnson at guard is an option as well as staying as the back up center until we can replace him with someone bigger ans stronger.

Johnson just may be able to hold his own at guard with his quickness, and intelligence, at least he would have no problem with the plays he would have to pull on.

Why would anyone even consider moving arguably our best playing interior lineman to a position where he struggled is beyond me. Not only doesn’t that make football sense....that doesn't make any kind of sense. I will chalk that up to a drunken stupor and move on.

Gurode seems to have solidified the middle of the OL and Columbo is having very good success at RT.

I think after this incident with his face getting stepped on, Gurode may be a bit less aggressive this week in Philly, as any opposing DL is going to try to slap those stiches to get Gurode reacting.

This maybe the week we see Al Johnson get some reps at the position during this game.

We'll see. I'm not sold on either of these guys as our answer at C, but together, they seems to be able to get it done.

I'm assuming AJ's knee is healed from last year's injury and that he's added weight and strength in the off-season as reported. I'm still waiting to see how he's playing.

Any inury to a starter OL player could cause a ripple effect of moving AJ into the C and Gurode to a G position and Kosier to where ever needed.

I like the way this OL is setup over previous lines. Let's hope we don't really need all this interchangebility and the OL can stay together over the course of the year. We haven't had that since BP has been here.

Gurode played very well at center his rookie season. Then they moved him to guard and everyone started calling him a bust. The man is playing dominant football, the best of his career. Why move him to a position where he's struggled in the past?

Can't believe anyone seriously would believe we should move Gurode from center where he now playing very well and that's against 4-3 teams (supposedly his weaknesses and Johnson's strength) to guard where he was inconsistent last year.

We all heard about Johnson's gaining strength and weight but he was beat out fairly by Gurode in preseason/TC because Gurode finely mentally focused on his job at all times during the game rather then allowing himself to get distracted. If Gurode continues to play well (might even get better as he gains more starting center experience), I expect Cowboys to sign him for starter money at center before the season ends.

I have quite a bit of reporting about how well Kosier and Gurode are playing and that Adams has also improved. Apparently Colombo has been coming on as well and depending on his performance the rest of the season, I'd expect him also to be signed before the season ends (if we believe he is/can shortly be a legit quality starting RT).

We didn't get the Titans-Cowboy game here in Tampa area and haven't heard much of anything about Riveria's play. If he remains the weak link, I'm thinking Proctor might be able to challenge him at some point.

LOL, funny. I was suprised when i read the title of this thread. Al did OK filling in, but of course haynesworth was out of the game then. But you know what i realkly liked was what Al said about haynesworth - something to the effect that he was frustrated cause he was getting his butt kicked all day. Love to hear O Lineman talk like that.

On another note, I have to say I am really suprised and happy with the O Line play thus far. Man, going against that Philly Dline in their own stadium will be the real test.

Also, did anyone notice the announcer highlighting a run play that went for a TD where Kosier did a great job pulling through a hole and chipping the only guy that could have made the tackle.

Some coaches move tackles to guard, shuffle the line to account for a single injury, and constantly bench OL guys to try new ones out.

It's pleasantly surprising that Dallas actually has the depth to lose their starting center and replace him with a guy who's almost as good. Of course having the opponent's best DT ejected kind of evens things out a bit...
