This may seem like a poster just ranting and raving, but this team needs to shake up the roster in the worse kind of way. Here is what should happen but won't. I think you can pretty much count the New England game as a loss so I would use it to implement changes and see how the take hold.

The safeties have been absolutely horrendous lately. I think we have seen enough from both Wilcox and Church to realize that we need to get a real free safety. I think you have to bench JJ Wilcox and put Byron Jones at FS full time. He has played well when he is in the game. I do think he will make some mistakes, but this coaching staff will just have to live with him. Wilcox and Church are not going to get better. Byron Jones will. I would then have Wilcox and Church play only as a SS in the box type role and try not to let them cover too much in space.

Tyler Clutts offers absolutely nothing. He should be cut and the cowboys should bring in Henry Hynoski. The guy is healthy and he does not play special teams, but at least he blocks his man. Clutts only plays a handful of plays, bring in a real FB to try and open up the running game.

Put Devin Street on IR if able and if not cut him and Lucky Whitehead. Neither one of them is helping out at WR. Street is hurt but he was not offering much when healthy. I would either go out and sign two receivers from someone else's practice squad or elevate the two receivers from the Cowboys practice squad. I don't think you can justify playing Street anymore.

Bench Doug Free. Its obvious that his foot is really bothering him. He was never a strong physical blocker and was always more of a positional blocker. Without his mobility he is not able to get in position consistently. I think he is definitely the weak link on the O line. I would start La'el Collins and not look back. He will make some mistakes but he will get better. Ronald Leary is better than Doug Free. The coaching staff needs to do something rather than watch Free continue to flounder like a beached whale.

Lastly bench Joseph Randle and give the bulk of the carries to Christine Michael. We need to dump the RBC approach, it isn't working. We need to allow the running back to try and get into a rhythm. I wouldn't cut Randle, but I wouldn't give him significant playing time either. McFadden will have to be the new 3rd down running back and try and do some of the things that Dunbar was doing. The only reason I would not cut Randle I because I don't think Montee Ball or Trent Richardson are as good as he is. If they were they would already be on a team. I do think Michael needs to be ridden in the Patriots came to see if he can be a bell cow or not.

Everything sounds good to me, except for Lucky, I think he just needs a couple of opportunities.

If you broke out and posted a Daft Punk lyric you would have shocked me here.

Just something to consider.

Last year we were normally in the top 5 (if not 1) in rushing.

So far we are #16 in rushing.

It might be working....but it sure is not working anywhere close to as good as it was last year.

The OL hasn't played even remotely close to the level they were playing at last year. I think that is 80% of the reason for the rushing regression.

I think the Safeties have often been in no win situations. It is really hard to tackle a runner that is running full speed in the open field. Jones might make some plays that they don't but will likely make some mistakes that they wouldn't make.

Tyler Clutts offers absolutely nothing. He should be cut and the cowboys should bring in Henry Hynoski. The guy is healthy and he does not play special teams, but at least he blocks his man. Clutts only plays a handful of plays, bring in a real FB to try and open up the running game.
Do they really have to have a FB? I agree that Clutts is not good. It's difficult to have too many non special teams type player on the game day roster. They can't afford to regress on ST.

Put Devin Street on IR if able and if not cut him and Lucky Whitehead. Neither one of them is helping out at WR. Street is hurt but he was not offering much when healthy. Street has not been healthy this season. I think they would pick up a WR if they find one that is worth it. Lucky might have to be the Kick Returner now with Dunbar out. He also might get some opportunities on the underneath routes that Dunbar was getting.

Bench Doug Free. Its obvious that his foot is really bothering him. He was never a strong physical blocker and was always more of a positional blocker. I totally agree. At least have Collins start practicing at RT.

How about we see if C-Mike can do anything in the next game with some shared carries. If he looks better than Randle then make him the starter but he needs to prove it first.

Jerry would just love to hear that he owes all three of these guys for full seasons, and he owes other guys they bring in now, too.

But no, none of them look good.

When you're missing your starting QB, WR, and RB (Murray) of couse the OL is going to appear out of sync. Having to adapt to three RB's styles, CB's staying in press because they've no fear of a down field threat, and Weeden who for some reason steps back from pressure instead of in the pocket. The problem with that is that he is not mobile enough to escape and extend the play. This is a lot more to do with our situation than it is our actual offensive line.

lol, the OL has a scheme they run on each play. They execute it, or they do not. They have no been executing.

When you have Randle who spends more time dancing behind the line than hitting a crease, or McFadden who we've barely been able to see, yes, it makes the line look bad. They're not perfect, but this certainly has an impact on the ebb and flow.

Well said Brain, and completely accurate.

I'm not content being mediocre when last year we were great in that area.
