No offense to Jerry but they should not make a movie about him until they get it done with Tom Landry.

For Tom I would pick...

Robert Duvall or Ed Harris to play the legendary coach.

After all of that is done we can see if Howdy Doody is still around to do the Jerry Movie.:p:

Ed Harris would be absolutely perfect for Landry.

I'm buying Tommy Lee Jones as Jerry and Ed Harris as Landry...two good choices IMO. We need a Tuna and a Jimmy...as this story can't be told without them.

That's the guy.
You need somebody who has that southern drawl that Jerry has.
Tommy Lee Jones from Tennessee is the best actor with the closest accent to pull it off.

What's really pretty scarey is that the cast from Smokey and the Bandit series would work well.

Jerry = Trucker/sidekick guy, cant recall his name atm

Jimmie = Burt (with wig of course)

Tuna = Jackie Gleason

Zimmer = Junior

Campo = Dom Deloes

Wow...that's pretty far out of left field...but not too shabby.

I would go with Dennis Quaid to play Jerry Jones. He has played enough "southerners" to do it well and is the right age and looks somewhat similar. Plus he's a native Texan having been born in Houston.

I thought he was great in "Everbody's All American" playing Billy Cannon (Gavin Grey in the movie).

no one has to "resemble" jerry - just play the part. you saying *every* movie about a real person the actor had to look "spot on" like that person?

It's not necessary, but it's a bonus... when Anthony Hopkins played Nixon, he looked rather like Tricky Dick...

Give him a Jerry haircut, and he might do...
Honestly, I believe that Willem Dafoe would be a shoe-in, but maybe that's just me.

Can he learn to smack his lips?

Julian Beck of "Poltergeist" fame.
Along those lines, Angus Scrimm of Phantasm:

Realistically, I'd nominate Bruce Dern or Dennis Hopper for the wacko factor. :D

Tommy Lee Jones was the first actor I thought of and still think would do the best job.
