I know everyone is concerned about injuries and that is understandable but there are other concerns. What concerns you more, JPP going against Tyron or Claiborne covering Nicks/Cruz? I'm really concerned about Claiborne because Eli and the Giants are going to test him and alot.....

Do you think that they'll put Carr on cruz and Claiborne on nicks? Cruz seems to be the best receiver over there in the armpit of America.

their DL against our OL

x2

But if I had to answer the OP's question: Claiborne vs whoever he's covering. I would personally put him on Nicks since I see Cruz as the bigger threat.

Yes carr will be on cruz. Carr called out cruz as soon as dallas signed him. He said there will be no salsa dancing when hes covering him.

Its really gonna suck not having witten or ratliff but we for sure can still beat them.

Ah, that's right. I forgot about that. I'm just looking forward to an end of Eli running around like a ******, closing his eyes, and blindly throwing the ball in the air only to have a receiver somehow catch it.

For the most part Carr will cover whoever is on the defensive left, and Claiborne whoever is on the defensive right. They won't assign any CB to any specific WR much at all for the first few games.

Miles not being healthy. Witten out. Bracket coverage on Dez with Webster and S over the top, and Olgetree/Harris/Beasley/80% Miles not being able to get seperation on the other side. No production from TE. Then when Romo has to sit in the pocket and wait for 6 seconds to find someone to throw to, it will be all the OL's fault when the pocket eventually collapses by the Choir of Derp.

Eli, Cruz and Nicks are going to get theirs. We're going into a shoot out with some plastic pop guns.

So the OL won't struggle against the giants DL? It'll only be due to coverage if they get to Romo?

Yeah.

Pre-emptive excuses for the offensive line are already in full effect.

Why wait until the last minute after all?

Every team is going to struggle against the Giants outside DL. However, the Giants interior DL is lacking. You counter it by running quick hits and short routes and expect your WRs to make plays with the ball in their hands, and we're desperately lacking in that kind of big play ability if Miles is out. That quick hit contested slant that Ogletree clanged off of both hands against the Rams? That's going to be the type of route we'll have to run to precision time after time after time, and Ogletree will not only have to cleanly catch it but break some tackles for some big gains. Our OL isn't going to able to give give Romo 8 seconds to sit back and take a nap waiting for for Dwayne Harris to run 50 yards down field with 4.6+ speed to get over the top of horrendous safeties like they did against the Rams.

Yep. Romo isn't capable of finding the open guy. Didn't you know?

Not just excuses, but the praises as well.

Anyone that has it made up in their mind that this OL is fine is brain dead.

At the same time, anyone that has it made up in their mind that this OL is a disaster is equally braindead.

We just have to wait and see.

I'm trying to be cautiously optimistic, but given the current circumstances, it's not the easiest thing in the world.

But what I'm not willing to do is to let the offensive line off the hook already if they do struggle.

I think it's become abundantly clear that the other pieces are in place and this team's fortunes rest on the perfomance of the offensive line.

It has to me anyway.

if you ask NFL GMs who has the most intimidating DL in the league, i would think the overwhelming answer will be, the giants

so i doubt that they are "lacking" as you suggest

however, their "lacking" in the interoir DL is more than made up for by the "lacking" in our interoir OL

We have a messageboard that is 95% brain dead.

I wouldn't say that I'm 'worried'

Tyron Smith is going to have his hands full with JPP. That's natural. The playing field will start to balance out next year between these two.

And Claiborn is going to have rookie moments but the guy can cover and they probably won't leave him on an Island by himself.

But overall I think both will be alright so to speak since it balances out.

I think the Giants will have their hands full with Ware and their banged up CBs will have problems with our WRs

You mean the interior DL that was penciling in Shaun Rogers as a starter, playing on his 3rd team in 3 years, before he went out with possibly season ending blood clot? You mean the interior DL that expecting major contributions from Marvin Austin when he hasn't played competitive football in over 2 years? You mean the interior DL who is counting on Chris Canty, when he's just been placed on reserve PUP?

The lack of collective football knowledge on this board still absolutely astounds me. If anyone knows of a messageboard where people know a cursory level of football knowledge above ESPN Messageboard caliber where I can discuss football concepts with likeminded people, people provide link.

I think what he means is that Canty is out and their depth is suffering with Shaun Rogers and Marvin Austin with injuries.

They have great DEs, but right now their interior is in bad shape.
