MP3/itunes advice

Hey folks. I have an ipod classic and my daughters mp3 player has crapped out on her so I am getting her and her sister each an mp3 player for Christmas.

I bought them each a 16GB Sony mp3 player. My question is can I use itunes to download the songs for them or is that only for ipod or do I need another service to like wal-mart downloads?

I'm not totally sure if you can use a non apple product to download from itunes. If I had to guess, I'd say no. But you can hook it up and see what happens.

But the good news is, you can easily convert all those songs you already have in itunes into mp3's. Once you do that, you can upload into the mp3 player.

If you don't know how to do that, simply google "change mp4's into mp3s", and you should find a thousand articles telling you how to do it.

Itunes is only for apple devices (ipod and iphone) as far as I know of.

A lot of itunes music is DRM free now so you can download it and should be able to convert it.

You can convert right in itunes. Its under the import settings section. Just pick MP3, pick the bitrate you want.....128, 192, whatever.

Then just right click on any song you have in itunes and you should be able to convert.

Of course, now you have 2 copies of the song so delete whichever one you aren't going to use.

After you convert a song you will probably have to transfer to the player with whatever software they give you. Just convert, drag and drop into new MP3 folder and then use their software to transfer to the player.

My new mp3 player is also a Sony. Mine is the Sony 8GB and I think it's a lot like the ones that you got for your daughter. In my intruction book I think I saw something about how to put songs on my player using itunes. I have not tried anything with itunes yet, but I will look into it.
