An MRI conducted on Terrell Owens confirmed that the star Cowboys receiver has a high ankle sprain. No timetable has been given for his return but the team said it was unlikely he would playh in Week 17 against the Commanders.

The Cowboys clinched home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs after the Packers lost in Chicago on Sunday.

Owens left the Cowboys' game in the second quarter Saturday night against Carolina.

According to a postgame news release, the Cowboys' top receiver has a sprained ankle. X-rays were negative but he is to undergo an MRI exam on Sunday.

A source close to Owens speculated Saturday that he would hopefully be ready for their Divisional playoff game, ESPN's Ed Werder reported.

Owens' leg got caught underneath him when he was tackled by Jon Beason on a 4-yard catch in the second quarter. After limping around on the sideline for several minutes, Owens walked to the locker room.

A television camera later caught Owens walking near the locker room without a shoe on his left foot, accompanied by a trainer and agent Drew Rosenhaus.

Owens had five catches for 48 yards, including a 10-yard touchdown catch, before he was injured. The TD was Owens' team-record 15th of the season.

Three Weeks to get healthy TO.

I expect he'll be more than ready to play come the divisional round.

Glad to hear nothing is torn or broken and it appears is he just need some time to heal the sprain, hopefully 3 full weeks is enough.

hoping it was something less serious but now it's confirmed on what happened. Now he has weeks to heal his ankle.

There's no doubt in my mind he plays in the divisonals, I just wonder what percentage he'll be at.

Three to be exact, but don't you just hate the idea that the Cowboys will lose to the 'Skins?

I hope they can find some magic somewhere.

He should be fine in 3 weeks, plus he's a quick healer!!

He'll be sleeping in that chamber he has, taking some fish oil, and getting the best people in Dallas working on a ankle.

Knowing that guy I bet he'll be fine in 2 weeks much less 3.

I think so too. Especially the way he was walking on it.

How would you like to have to sleep in this thing?

Losing a game to the Skins with all our starters benched does not bother me at all.

The Skins should be ashamed if they cannot beat our second string. :laugh2:

Why would we lose to them? Trent Edwards of the Bills beat them at FedEx and so will we with BJ at QB. We're not losing to those bums... What are you talking about? :shoot6:

The injury just didn't seem that bad. He has 3 weeks from today so I don't see a reason why he wouldn't be able to play when the time comes.

we'll be evenly matched vs. the Skins, they are hurting just as bad as we are

they're starting Todd Collins at QB for goodness sakes

Is that really worse than starting Jason Campbell at QB though? I don't think it makes too much of a difference, myself.
