Think this photo shows exactly why he's fumbling.

Ball held away from the body and that first finger below the ball. If you looks at the best RBs in football over time they had that finger above the point or on the point and the ball colse to the body.

I'm sure they've addressed the problem more than once during film sessions. Just up to Murray to be more cognizant.

yeah, he has always kind of held the ball like a running qb... when he braces for contact he tucks the ball, but sometimes its too late. I am sure it has been discussed by the team and Murray, but Murray hasn't been too bad over his career fumble wise

True but he's never gotten this amount of work over the first two weeks of the season. So If thats to continue he needs to be more attentive on how he's carrying that ball. 2 fumbles in 2 weeks is bad for a RB

I think part of the problem is lack of contact during camp and to an extent mid-week practices during the season as required per the new CBA.

I discount the Street caused fumble because he had it tucked and still Street's elbopw found a way.

I think this is more of ma concern by fans than anything.

Honestly- I don't care if it's the defense, or his team mate, or his grandma running into him with their face, elbow, groin- whatever!
He should protect the ball at all costs.
Don't let the ball go loose!

nah... you got to hold on to that ball, friendly fire happens... you have to have it secured, that didn't look as secure as it should be....

that's what i was taught...

He's had 5 fumbles in 37 career regular season games up until the last two weeks. This hasn't been an issue with him to this point. That can change at anytime though. My biggest concern is that he starts thinking too much about not fumbling and it becomes a sort of self prophecy deal. I'll suspend my worries until it looks like a real pattern though.

I agree with this...

I know he had the ball tucked in against his body on 1 of the fumbles and I think he did on both.

Think LM is right: he looks loose at times with the way he carries the ball. Luckily, it can be fixed, and without impacting a player's performance. In fact, my recollection is that Tiki Barber (don't know why he comes to mind as the obvious example) didn't really reach his peak until after Coughlin solved his fumbling problem.
