I wonder how close would Murray be to the 2,000 yard mark if he had no lost yards? I'm thinking he would be past Emmitt's total by now if he had no negative yardage

I don't think he loses yards very often as compared to other RBs.

I track the results of every play, and I show 27 carries yielded minus 75 yards. Certainly not official, but it's very close.
Take away those negative yards and he would have 1762 now.

Agreed. If anything, he's very skilled at always "falling" forward and getting positive yards, or extending gains. He's very crafty in that sense.

He seems to rarely get gobbled up in the backfield, and he's also good at keeping it simple and avoids dancing too much in the backfield. Although he's patient, in a good way.

Truly a great performance he's been putting on this year.

At one point he was leading the league in negative carries last season with 17 negative carries it was pointed out on NFLN. I've had many debates on his negative carries and other than his injuries his negative carries have been the only issue I've had with him. Compared to other backs he's one of the leaders in negative carries and it's all due to his reversing of field and cutback running style.

He refuses to give up on a play and will bounce outside and circle back if a hole isn't there like he did against the Bears which cost him a 14 yard loss. He would have had close to 200 yards in that game had it not been for 2 big negative carries. He hasn't had as many negative carries this season because the Cowboys have obviously been on him about it and he's been lowering his head more taking what he can get if the hole isn't there.

I'm only referring to this season.

This season he's really improved on not taking losses except for the Bears game where he got real careless and it cost him close to 20 yards.

Just curious...but why?

And you do it live?

but wouldn't you have to then do that for Emmitt as well. I mean it isn't really a fair test to say Murray would have broken his record when its not an apples to apples comparison. There is a reason their stats are taken in the entirety and not on a "what-if" basis.

Lost yards? What are you calling "lost yards"? He doesn't run backwards much so not sure what that means.

Yes, I do it live. A DVR and an eraser comes in handy I do it the old fashioned way). I did it once for fun quite a few years back and they won, so I have just contined it for fear they would lose if I didn't. :)
