Murray - One Hit Wonder Nonsense?

It's amazing to me how it seems many "experts" and fans are so dismissive of Murray's 253 yd game last Sunday. "It's only the Rams....he only broke 3 tackles...it was just a fluke." And so on. It's almost like people are banking on him failing in the future or something. I honestly don't think I've ever seen a historically great performance like Murray's game challenged like this before.

I have no proof of this but I would think that most of all-time great games happen against the weaker teams in the league. That's just what happens in this league. So why the, "oh, it's just the Rams" nonsense?

Was it a fluke if he doesn't reach 200 yds again or doesn't finish with 100 yds every game from now on???? :bang2:

I'm curious at to who has labeled him a 'one-hit wonder' other than the obvious choice of Marshall Faulk of course.

Welll, admittedly he doesn't have the burst that you usually see in a top tier NFL back.

Ummm... what? You are joking of course, right?

Hmm. You don't think so?

Watching the 91-yd TD run, I was surprised how quickly he outran the last DB who had a shot at him.

What's amazing to me is that some think it's OK to predict that he is JAG, but anyone who says he's the real deal needs to tap the brakes. Funny how that works.

I don't think they knew what they were saying. Either that or it was DEEP sarcasm.

I bet the prior...

I didn't think that he did either but I feel like he proved me wrong against the Rams. He showed a pretty definite acceleration when holes got opened up.

Even if he gets another 200 yards against the Eagirls, he will still not get the respect he deserves. They'll say "well the EaGirls run defense is bad". Until he does well against a good Run defense few times, he will not be considered a real deal.

Or maybe he will never get credit. Hell, even Emmitt Smith's accomplishments are downplayed by the so-called experts. I really don't care what they say about Murray. If he's the real deal, we will know and so will all of his detractors.

I'm not being a wise-guy.

I thought his burst was fine.

Now if you said that he tried bouncing plays outside too often, then I'd be in full agreement.

I agree. I don't give a rats arse what the media says about him. As long as he is helping us win games, he's the real deal to me.

i think it's funny people think either have to be decided today. i'll just watch the kid and hope for the best and when his career is over, we'll know.

Agreed. But we should at least give the kid credit for what he accomplished. It's not like he was some 7 year nondescript vet who suddenly one Sunday rushed for 200 yards. The guy basically got his first real opportunity to tote the rock and had a great game. Like you said, time will tell how good he really is. But from what i've seen and read, the reaction seems to be overly dismissive.

Please don't take this as negative because I am no expert...When I watch him run he seems "tight" on his cuts or something. I can't put my finger on it, and maybe I am not seeing what I am seeing.... :) Does anyone else feel the same, or am I crazy. Still, doesn't mean he can't be great just his cuts don't seem right to me.
