If Murray goes this season with something like 1900 yards 16tds but also 16 fumbles would you take that? Would you resign him?

Depends on how much he wants.

I like him, but I would rather see another RB next year if he is asking for a huge contract. I have a feeling we can grab a former backup looking for a starting role, or draft one in the mid rounds and not have too much of a drop off.

As much as the fumbles annoy the heck out of me, I think it puts us in a good position for negotiations. But if the fumbling continues on its current trend or anywhere near it, even 1900 yards isn't worth a big contract in my opinion. He better be willing to settle for a hometown discount if it came to that. Otherwise let him walk.

The days of the huge RB contract in the NFL are all but over and I hope Jerry got the memo. I have said it before, Demarco is a good RB, he's not a great RB. If he wants good RB money, sign him, and if he wants great RB money you let him walk.

I just wonder what a more "elusive" type back would do with this line.

2000 yards and 16 fumbles would be disastrous. You can't win like that. I'd take 1200 yards and the typical 3-4 fumbles over that 100% of the time.

Yeah a guy with some breakaway speed with these holes would be great

People need to really calm down around here.

First, the win was glorious, but it was the Rams with a kid starting his third game. And yet he posted 30 of 42 completed with a 71.4 completion rate and a QB rating of 98.0 (I despise stats, but that seems to be the legal tender here)

Second, this Murray flirting with 2000 yards is more than a little ridiculous.

Now do the math. Austin Davis threw the ball all over the yard against this defense. So what are the like of Brees, Foles, Cousins, Eli (yes Eli), Russell Williams, Palmer, and Luck going to do?

NO Pass Rush, No Pass Defense

And when Dallas is playing from enough behind against a team that is not the Rams, they will begin to throw to keep up.

Geez, this fanbase is like a guy in the doctor's office. The doctor taps his knee and he kicks.

Murray is not running for anywhere close to 2000 yards.

i wouldnt spend a ton in a contract year either but stop with this, oh we can replace him with a 4th rounder.

Well I also doubt that he'll actually fumble 16 times but the point was does a monster level of production out weigh a frequent level of fumbles. To me I'd take

Well I also doubt that he'll get close to having 16 fumbles but the pint was to see who feels like a very high level of production out weighs a high fumble rate. To me even though the fumbles are annoying I'd take the production. I want Murray to get a new contract and if he goes well over 1000 yards I think a reasonable effort should be made to keep him.

If he fumbles half that many times I want him on the first bus out of town. Yes, I'd make him take the bus.

I'll drive it for you. I've always wanting to be the bus driver anyway. It's on my bucket list. No tokens! Cash only. :D

On the nosey! :hammer:

If he gets more than the usual amount here on out he won't see 1900 yards. He'll be on the bench all by his lonesome.

he really needs to stop the stupid fumbling or his carries MUST get reduced...

Me thinks AP is going to get cut.... And he wants to be a Cowboy.... Hmmmmmm.

If Murray goes this season with something like 1900 yards 16tds but also 16 fumbles would you take that? Would you resign him?

No, I would want to re-sign him if he had 16 fumbles. He can have 3000 yards and I wouldn't want him if he fumbled 16 times. I would want him if he fumbles 8 times.

I would give Randle more carries next week and I would give Dunbar a couple also. Randle has gained yards when they've used him.

The big issue I have with fumbles are, how many points did they cost, I consider each lost fumble worth at least 3 points on the board and they could be more like in SF it led to 7 points so an initial 10 point swing. I know a little oversimplified and probably inaccurate but the first 3 games show you what turnovers can do to affect the outcome of a game, especially when you are not all worldly on Off or Def.

I've said it before that we should not resign Murray and let him test the market then decide if we want to match

That said, of he fumbles that frequently I don't sign him no matter what

Garrett does not have the stones to discipline a prominent player on this team like Murray so don't hold your breath

No. In fact, if he puts the ball on the ground again this week, I'd sit him for the rest of the game if I could afford to do it. He'd at least be sitting for the next two series. There's no use for a RB who cannot hold onto the ball. It kills you. It's a dicey thing to do for a guy leading the league and going into a contract year, but he's just not taking care of the ball properly. It's no mystery why it's coming out. He's not holding it right, and he's not tucking it in traffic, and he's not switching it to his off arm, and teams know it and are poking it out.
Murray's probably lucky as it is that he's so good in pass protection. Randle's actually looked good on his rushing attempts so far. If we could trust him more on passing downs, he'd probably already be stealing carries.
