Now that it looks like the Cowboys are moving on from Murray, we can look at the silver lining of this. Yes he had one heck of a season last year! But it was his only season where he played the entire season. After such a heavy load last season and the fact that he is not playing for a contract, it's likely that next season he will be hurt again especially in a system that requires him to keep the pace that Kelly's system does.

The likelihood is that this deal hurts both teams. We are built for a Murray type of RB and Philly will wish they hadn't signed him. What are the odds that he plays the entire season next year in that system?

He still broke his hand. He just played through it. Looked worn down late also--that was a lot of carries.

And he was hurt and fumbling....I'm not going to lie and say he won't be missed but truth be told he was never a guarantee to be healthy and he wore down BIG time at the end of last year. He looked like he lost a step in the final 5-6 weeks and a ton of other backs would have been 5 yards ahead of peppers.....if it was the underwear thief running that play we might have our 6th trophy right now

History shows backs typically decline after such a heavy workload. Time will tell. If he is getting top 5 money as reported, smart decision by JJ and company to pass. Now lock Dez up please.

Now that Murray is not a Cowboy, it turns out he really wasn't that good anyway right? Good grief.

Exactly all of a sudden he is healthy before new contract year, he will be standing in the cold on phillys sideline with an ugly huge raincoat soon

He has played in ten or more games every season he has been in the league. Marshawn Lynch missed a number of games in his first three seasons too. You know, the guy who is still going strong in Seattle after a number of years with high carry totals? The guy who just got a big extension from Seattle, despite the fact that they have to shell out big dollars for their QB, because they know how valuable he is to the identity of their team?

I wonder how many threads/posts we'll see that try to spin the loss of Murray into no big deal? Him leaving makes the team worse. Period. Will the FO rebound and make a move to mitigate this loss? Probably. We'll have to wait and see. Lot of offseason left.

He has never had a season where he didn't get hurt. He just made a business decision this year to play through his injuries. Something he will never do again after getting paid and JJ knows that.

Is DeMarco Murray a product of his OLine?

2011: 13 games, 164 carries. (Free - Holland - Costa - Kosier - Smith)
2012: 10 games, 161 carries. (Smith - Livings - ?Center? - Bernadeau - Free)
2013: 14 games, 217 carries (Smith - Leary - Frederick - Bernadeau - Free)
2014: 16 games, 392 carries (Smith - Leary - Frederick - Martin - Free)

You can't dismiss the fact that as the Oline has improved, so has Murray

There's a good chance that a RB Dallas brings in can have a good season. Maybe not 1800+yds, but 1300-1500+yd would not be too bad either, especially if the defense improves. Dallas can have that at a lower price either by FA or draft.
