Must haves for 2018 season success

Tyron's injury was certainly part of it. But we also lost Ron Leary to Free Agency and Doug Free to retirement. La'el would have probably played better at LG last year being his ideal position, but with the Free retirement they had little choice but to move him. Like Witten, Free waited until there was very little the front office could do about it to announce his retirement.

With a year under his belt, La'el should be improved. Not saying he was all that bad last year...people forget that he faced more elite passrushers than anyone in the front 5. The question mark is Connor Williams. Will he hit the ground running like Zack Martin or will it take him time they don't have to adjust to the speed of the NFL?

But if the OL is playing up to their 2016-ability, that, in my opinion, is more than half of the battle.

Expect Williams to make some rookie mistakes but he's between two pro-bowl players who have seen just about everything. Sure seems to have more upside than Jonathan Cooper/Bell and Green combined

Aside from health which is such a big key at any position group, I have two keys for the season.
Kris Richard and Sanjay Lal... how successful they are with their position groups will go a long way in determining our success.

Same thing they've needed for at least the past 8 years.

I forgot to add "Depth" via better player development.

Because anyone that says "if we stay healthy" as a qualifier is being completely unrealistic. No team stays healthy throughout the duration of an NFL season. For example, I think the average NFL starting offensive lineman plays only 13 or 14 games.

Connor's body type throws me, though. How is he going to hold up against Snacks Harrison? His weight and height puts him at a severe disadvantage in terms of physics when it comes to match-ups against true 1-techs. Granted, he will have alot of help from Frederick, but not enough to live off of.

But if he is solid, this team is better than 8 & 8.

Should be able to add some weight in muscle to that frame. Will need a good off-season and conditioning pogram

Defense needs to create more turnovers. The number of TO’s we’ve had the last few years has been horrendous.

Also, making stops on 3rd downs. 3rd and long has been a gimmie from this defense for far too long.
