OK, it has to be talked about sooner or later...

What happens in a few days when Dirk wins the MVP? Will they still have a big public ceremony or will they have a muted, closed-door event?

Is there a chance that Dirk doesn't accept it?

i think they are gonna do a recount to avoid embarrasment for everyone.

:lmao2:

well, as horrid as hes played, he deserves that regular season MVP

It's a regular season award. It happened to David Robinson in 95 against Hakeem, too. But, it's still a regular season award.

at least we made it to the conference finals that year

He doesn't deserve the MVP, that's for sure.

Sure, it's a regular season award, and he'll probably get it, but he is NOT the most valuable player.

I believe Federal Express is the official courier of the NBA. Dirk just needs to be home between 8am and 5 pm to sign for the package. On the 3rd attempt, he will have to go to the nearest FedEx fcility to pick it up.

It depends on what the MVP is for. If the MVP is for the most valuable player in the Regular Season, which I dont think it should be, then I have no problem with Dirk winning it.

If they were to start taking the Playoffs into account then it would be pure garbage to give Dirk the MVP.

To me, they need to either hand out the MVP earlier, meaning right after the regular season is over with or they need to take the Playoffs into account.

its the regular season that matters for MVP dirks performance in the playoffs shows he deserves it.

without him the mavs lose, thats clear from this series.
all year mediots have been saying dallas would win without dirk and as such he isn't the MVP. Clearly they were wrong.

I'm a Spurs fan, and I wasn't digging on David - but conference finals or not, he got it handed to him by Hakeem that year.

I agree. The long delay makes it ackward for moments like these, or when there's two worthy candidates and the loser is the one who earns the MVP by carrying his team deep in the playoffs.

Kobe for me is by far the most valuable player to his team - take Dirk from the Mavs and we are still a decent team, take Nash from the Suns and they are still a good team but if you take Kobe from the Lakers and they would be the worst team in the league by far - Memphis beat the Kobe-less Lakers this season, we all know how bad Memphis are.
