Pretty good stab at things. Just looking at the list and seeing a few names omitted makes you realize how difficult a few cuts will be this year -- guys like Pepper Johnson, who have played their way onto the team, but could get caught in a numbers crunch.

But I agree with some of your position analyses -- we'll go short at corner and receiver for sure.

Hey, thanks.

Of course a few more guys will be on the PS but I wasn't entirely sure about what qualifications they have to meet to be eligible.
For instance, Crowder couldn't be a PS squad guy after playing last year could he? Same with Nate Jones?

I also think that we will still bring in a vet Safety of some sort because we still have a major lack of exp there.

Man I hope I'm right about Fowler. I think he has a real future here at ILB. Seems like a real player.

I think all the 53 man rosters come down to a few tight decisions:

Do we keep 3 or 4 RB's?
I say we keep Barber as the 4th.

Who is our 9th OL, Tucker, Nolls or Walters?
Tough one here, but I say Tucker for now, with a change possible during the season if injuries strike.

Do we go 5 or 6 deep at CB?
I think six is likely because we mention playing nick so much on defense, we need the extra body; and if TNew is playing PR a lot, 6 gives up some depth. That being said, we go with 5 to start and see if the injury bug doesn't hit us. If it does, we call up a PS player quickly.

Who do we keep along the DL between Ratliff, Johnson and Carson?
Toss up here, but I say Johnson makes it and it's a toss up between Carson and Rat.

Who rounds out the bottom of the WR corp and do we add Price?
I add Price, drop Morgan since he wants out and keep Copper and Crayton of course.

And of course the kicking job is WIDE open.

In addtion to what was already posted, I just don't see Robinson returning with his main duties only being the long snapper. I think he will be gone w/all the tough cuts that have to be made. Not to mention, the Boys would save a little money also.

Possible for sure, but I think we play him this season and then cross our fingers and move on.

Pretty much the way I see it going down, Quickdraw.

I think we'll only keep 9 OL though, and possible keep Sean Ryan instead.

On defense, not sure we'll keep 8 defensive linemen. We only kept 7 for large parts of the last two seasons, and that's when we ran a 4 man front. I think we'll end up keeping 7.

QB: Our only 3

RB:

JuJo
A-Train
TT
MB III

FB:

Polite

WR:

Key
TG
PC
Price (?)
Crowder or Copper (1 or the other, but not both)

TE:

Witten
Campbell
Pierce

OL:

Adams
Allen
Gurode
Rivera
Petitti
Vollers
Johnson
Peterman
Tucker

That's 25 on offense. I think BP will try to go with 25 each on offense and defense. Then with the 3 specialists (K, P, LS).

DL:

Ellis
Ferg
Coleman
Glover
Spears
Canty
Ratliff, Carson, or Pepper (1 of these)

LB:

Al SINGLETON
Bradie James
Dat
Ware
Shanle
Fowler
Burnett
Kalen Thornton (hopefully his knee holds up)

CB:

Newman
Henry
Glenn
Reeves
Thornton

S:

Roy
Davis
Scott
Coady
(Beriault to IR. Did he even play today?)

K: ???

P: Matt McMvp

LS: Robinson

That's 24 on defense so we'll either keep an extra DL, LB (O'Neal?), or DB (6 CBs?).

Have fun with all that, Bill Parcells.

Rack, great minds think a like. Didn't we just post the same exact list, except you have your last DL as a question mark?

I think Ratliff is as good as on the team as Spears and Canty.
BP has spoken too highly and proud of him not to.
I guess if we went with one less D-Lineman than I listed, it would probably be Carson because of his knees.

That would leave one extra spot open which I would say would be given to Nate Jones (CB), Sean Ryan (TE), Tom Crowder (WR) or maybe Quincy Morgan (WR).

BP did say in a PC the other day that he would keep 9 or 10 O-Lineman so I think 10 is a very real possibility. Especially because quality is so hard to come by at those positions. If BP thinks he has 10 worthy guys... then he'll keep 10. 1 of them like Noll could be cut at a later date if we signed a vet like Gragg during the season.

I do think going with 6 CBs is a very real possibility also. But Bp kinda hinted at Thornton and Jones battling it out for the final CB spot. That would have to mean we were only going with 5 if he wasn't keeping both.

Anyone think Polite gets cut because BP has Carson to use in blocking scenarios and wants to have room for Leo?

Scott made a great play on the ball tonight.....should have gone all the way on that pass.... he broke on the ball and missed the interception completely, he doesn't have IT and never has, I say bring in a Veteran.

Normally I would think so, but how do you justify keeping 8 DL when you use a 3 man front, when you only kept 7 DL last year while using a 4 man front? That's more then 2 Deep at each position, and we have a couple of guys that can play the Nose and DE so it makes even less sense to keep 8.

Don't get me wrong, I'd hate to have to cut any of those guys. I like all of them. But going with 8 DL on a 3 man front puts you at almost 3 deep at every position. Who knows, maybe he'll keep that extra DL as one of those "Young developing players" he talked about the other day. The guy would likely be inactive all season, but at least he'd be protected from going elsewhere and he'd still be able to develop with us.

I doubt it. Polite is more valuable on special teams, not to mention having to rely too much on Carson near the goalline would be a bad thing cuz of his knees.

I just think the increase in D-Lineman numbers is a result of BP's priority this year to have a better rotation to keep em all fresh. It seems like that's what he thinks was a big part of the problem last season.

It does seem odd with only needing a 3 man front but remember, we will be running the nickel alot and probably a fair amount of 4-3 still.

I don't know, QD. BP even mentioned that most of our early season games are not gonna be in hot weather so I don't think he'll keep that many. Just makes no sense to keep 8 DL when you run a 3-4 when you only kept 7 last year whle running a 4-3.

But the good thing is it's obvious our talent lvl is rising cuz it's actually tough to make cuts now. There's actually some players we do not want to cut that might HAVE to be cut.

Not to mention he may decide to go 9 deep at LB. I think that 9th guy would be Ogbogu. That would also make another swing guy that can play DL. Another reason not to keep an extra DLman.

I remember the Steelers keeping 10 LBs a few years ago so it's not unheard of.

This is actually exciting though, wondering what poor ******* is gonna get cut.

In the nickel we'll have Ware at DE, so no need for an extra DL there.

And Ware will also play DE a lot of the time in the 4-3 as well. Plus, as I mentioned before, we kept 7 DL when we ran the 4-3 last year, so we can certainly get by keeping 7 while only running the 4-3 part time.
