I've had the same digital alarm clock for over 30 years.

I often on certain mornings wanted to bash it in pieces.

i'm glad i restrained myself...to be so inexpensive... to last that long is pretty damn impressive in my opinion.

That alarm clock has seen alot...let me tell ya.

when you talk bang for your buck...my alarm clock did that and then some.

what object do you own that has tested the test of time?

As Lane's wife, I have to say that there were many mornings I wanted to bash that alarm clock in, too. lol. Or drown it in his big glass of undrank water. LOL. It has this really high pitched obnoxious sound. lol. But I'm glad I never did. He has had that alarm clock longer than he has had me. :p And it is just part of the family, in a strange way. It is bittersweet really. A cold reminder of morning come, and yet a warm reminder of things being really good in life. :)

My wife still uses her alarm clock from way back. A Realistic brand which is Radio Shack's old house brand.

Thought I was going to smash it the other day when I woke up to McDonald's McPick 2 song. I have put up with a lot of really bad McDonalds advertising over the years, but this is the worst!

  • I don't actual have it anymore, but my friend from childhood (who is still my best friend) has it, but it's a Crate GX-212 guitar amplifier that was bought in 1989.
Looks very much like this one:

I also have a Black and Decker iron that I iron my clothes with that I bought around 1997 that I still have. I bought another one as I thought it was going to die at some point seven years ago, but the new one is still in the box and the old one is still ironing away.

I have an alarm clock that still works that goes way back in the 90s too, but I stopped using it many years ago in favor of my smart phone since it has batteries and power outages do not affect it. (I always forget to replace the backup batteries for the alarm)

I've got one of those pre-digital clock radios that have the numbers on cards (for lack of a better term) that flip down from a mechanically driven wheel, Circa early 70's.

I recently had my early 70's Peavey Classic re-capped and gave it new tubes. Good as new. I got it used in 1981.

My garage tv is a 70's Zenith. I've been hoping it would die giving me an excuse to replace it.

I've got my grandma's old iron that I got in the mid 70's when she replaced it. I use it to wax my skis or anything else it could be useful for.

I could go on and on. I like keeping old stuff useful and have a lot of it.

And it is generally true... they really don't make it like they used to

Oh wow, Vtwin! That's probably considered an antique by now. I miss those clocks. They were pretty cool.

In 1986 I bought a Timex watch in San Antonio Texas while I was in Air Force basic training. I've replaced the battery and band a couple times but I still wear the watch everywhere I go and yes, I do have the alarm set to wake me up every morning. I've literally wore this thing to hell (active war zone) and back.

That is freaking awesome...takes a licking and keeps on ticking for sure.

I have an old Peavey Practice amp like this one since about 89-90.

Also have an old Banana guitar tuner that is probably older than that...

One of the first digital alarms clocks around was given as a gift to my dad in the early 70's... still working...

I was trying to think of something and it came to me that I haven't replaced the DVD Burner in my various PC builds in years. I just keep transferring it to the new one. I basically never use it anymore, but I guess you never know when you might need it? So, I went over to Newegg and looked at my old orders and sure enough:

1 x LITE-ON 22X DVD Burner Black SATA Model iHAS122-04 - OEM - Purchased 03/26/2009
