some of my random thoughts

the bad

our OL is terrible in blitz pickup, and it not all because of our RG and RT situation, its mostly Flo's side, we all know Flozell cannot handle speed rushers. something needs to be done to solidify this and soon.

maybe its just cause of preseason, but our offensive play calling is horrible for the most part, and still predictable like last year. preseason should be a time of the year to also try some deep passes, get the timing down between Drew B and our WR's, i cant recall many deep balls thrown.

special teams havent improved under DeHaven, with so much damn emphasis placed on ST's by BP, i cant beleive we struggle as much, im still worried about Cortez also.

The Good

if anyone had any doubt about Julius, that should be gone by now, Julius is the man! and we have to count our blessings that BP and JJ didnt screw that draft up by passing on Jackson and Jones. thats a major relief.

keith davis is looking pretty good back there at FS, and man can he hit, also let me say that Anthony Henry is looking more and more deserving of the contract we gave him, and thats a great relief as well.

without stating the obvious (Ware) im very pleased in what i have seen from our defensive rookies...Canty (who some thought wouldnt see the field till midseason, Burnett, Barryo, Ratliff, and Johnson. if Spears comes around to the level of Ware this could be the finest defensive draft ever.

lastly QB's

let me say this, im not a big fan of any of our QB's on this roster, infact if we trotted 3 different ones out there, i wouldnt miss any of them.

we all know the weaknesses of Drew Bledsoe, alot of our offense is gonna be dependent on our running game, if we get Julius on track, mixed in with some great play from Witten, our offense will be able to be very balanced and Drew Bledsoe will come out smelling like a rose, should we fall way behind, we are basically out of it, just like last year our offense isnt going to win very many shootouts.

Romo- i have to say i came away last night a little more impressed with him, he really drops back quick and sets up quick to get rid of the ball. i can really say that im starting to see a confident QB in Romo, and seems to be maturing as a pro QB. i will still hold out judgement on him till i actually see him play a meaningful game.

Henson- just havent seen enough of him on the field to form a good opinion of him, and there might be a good reason for that, not to mention BP shouldve played him and Romo throughout the last 6 games last year but thats a whole another story, from the little ive seen of Henson, i just think he is more worried about making a bad throw, than actually making a good play, with Bledsoe here i just dont think BP or JJ are in big hurry to develop Henson as our starter, even if he was doing as well as Romo, Bledsoe would still be starting, the best thing for Henson is exactly what BP is doing, and thats bringing him along slowly, im pretty convinced by next year this time Henson will look alot better.

Nice post Chris, can't say I disagree with anything.

A big issue is our apparent lack of abilty to pick up the blitz, especially with Bledsoe back there.
