I'm going to do this mock with the Pats giving us one of their 2nd rounders for Marcus Spears. They do need some 3-4 DE help so it isn't completely unrealistic.
2nd Round-(We trade down to 40th overall) Maurkice Pouncey C/OG
Earl Thomas, Mike Iupati,Anthony Davis are off the board and we don't like anyone at the 27th spot. We trade with Oakland for their 2nd,3rd and 5th selections in exchange for our 1st. Pouncey is the best C in the draft and I know we're interested in versatile linemen. Could also play at a high level at OG.
2nd Round-(Pats picks) Vlad Ducasse RT/OG-Umass
We trade this pick, our 4th and 6th to move up. We really start to see lineman selected early to solidify that position. Pouncey and Ducasse are both solid backups with real chances to start in 2011. I like Ducasse at RT but he could play OG if needed. Even could back up Free at LT. Very versatile.
2nd Round-(our pick) Sean Lee ILB-Penn St
ILB in the 2nd?? Really? Yes. This could be Brooking's last year. Carpenter will most likely be let go next year. That leaves us thin at ILB. Jason Williams looks to be our Nickel LB for the future with his speed. Mayock really like Lee and thinks he could be a very good starter in the NFL.
3rd Round-(from Raiders) Javier Arenas-CB/PR-Bama
Probably one of my favorite pet cats. Physical corner that tackles really well. I like him here because of his punt and kick returning skills. I actually think he will be better at FS because of his wrap up skills and range. Could easily be a starter in 2011. Reminds me alot of Antrel Rolle. Corner in college and transition to FS in the NFL.
3rd Round-(our pick) Taylor Price-WR-Ohio
Might be a little high to grab him but i just see him being a really good WR in the NFL. Our WR core is strong already but Crayton is getting up there and we don't know what will happen to RW. Not to mention Hurd can be easily replaced.
5th Round-(From Raiders)-Arthur Jones-DT-Syracuse
Reminds me alot of Jay Ratliff with his high motor. Scrappy player who replaces Siavii and adds solid depth at the NT position
7th Round-Sergio Render-OG-Virginia Tech
Just more added O-line depth. He probably will be placed on the practice squad but in a few years be solid depth on the O-line.
I know it's alot of players drafted, but we just essentially reloaded with talent. The way I look at it, if Ducasse and Pouncey are the only active backup Olineman on gamedays because of their versitility that can clear up a roster spot. Possibly Cricket is no longer on the roster and we don't carry 2 kickers. That's 3 more players we can carry on gamedays.
What do you think?
