Very cool.

My son's league (8-9 year olds) just had their draft and we found out he'll be a Dolphin this year. Our practices start in about 2 weeks.

I'm honestly as pumped for pee wee season to start as I am about the NFL season. :D

EXCELLENT...

I just got back from son's 1st practice this year.

He's a 10 year old QB/LB Bonecrusher Jr. in the making and I'm coaching the Defense baby.

At how old does pee wee football start?

In our league, they start tackle at 7... although my son played up a year and started at 6.

The 7 year old league is organized as "developmental" so coaches are on the field, the rules are relaxed, and there are some other changes to make it more of a learning experience for the kids.

Then once they hit 8, it gets serious. :D

It's funny, for our league they have a "combine" (more of a player evaluation) where they all run the 40, do a shuttle drill, do push ups, and so some lite skills work. Then they do a full draft where there is some serious scheming and wheeling-dealing among all the coaches.

I was pretty proud of my kid... he went in the top of the second round. I'd say he's a "chip off the ol block" but that'd be giving myself WAY too much credit. He's a much better block than I ever was. :laugh2:

I love the way you guys do things. But here we only have one team for each age so a draft wouldn't be needed. I do wish they would put them through some skill tests instead of a popularity contest. Some kids here are playing that really shouldn't be just because of thier last name. Small town politics.

This is one of my favorite pics of my son running the ball last year. It cracks me up, mostly because of the blocker who is just standing there and staring at his shoelaces. :p:

It's one of the things that makes Pee Wee football so much fun to watch!

He's just faking everyone out. Any second now he'll start running then your son will throw a bomb to him. :laugh1:

That was actually our center. :p:

Speaking of bombs... this one's of my son throwing one of the 6 passes we attempted last year.

OMG...that's crazy! Seems like that's overdoing it but I guess that may make teams a little more even. I just hope you don't tell the 7th rounders they were 7th rounders....crush their little hearts :lmao2:

No I'm pretty sure the draft results are kept pretty quiet.

My son starts his first flag football team in a couple of weeks. I think his mom and I are more excited than him. I hope he has fun.

What are you guys doing for mouth guards? At one of the coaching safety seminars I went to for baseball, the team Dr. for UCLA was talking about how he recommends against the standard boil and bite mouth guard. Anyone else had this?
