1-Leighton Vander Esch LB Boise State A-

Team lost a quality, solid starter in Anthony Hitchens in fa. Sean Lee is getting old and even more less durable. Team went 1-6 in games he missed. Jaylon Smith is still no where near his pre-injury form. Linebacker was the team's #1 need. LVE is a play making linebacker this team sorely needed. Hitchens was solid, but he lacked many game changing type plays, LVE has that ability to more impactful in creating more turnovers at the position. He could be very special against the pass, biggest question will be how good will he be against the run. Has the ability to play all 3 positions, day 1 starter and will ultimately be apart of replacing Sean Lee down the road. Harold Landry was the only other prospect I would of considered over him.

2-Connor Williams G/T Texas A+

I didn't believe the team would be able to land a quality G/T after rd 1. Connor Williams surprisingly lasted all the way to pick #50. He's a first round talent, considered a top 10 pick two years ago, who can potentially play all 5 offensive line positions. Due to his borderline arm length, the team will kick him inside and he will become the team's plug and play starter at Left Guard. Most important this leaves Collins at Right Tackle. Connor could also play Left Tackle in a pinch if Tyron would go down. Wasn't in love with any receiver at this point, would of considered Nathan Shepherd, didn't like the Stanford Safety, Connor was by far the best player available.

3-Micheal Gallup WR Colorado State B+

This pick reminds me of how the front office took Awuzie last year. They patiently waited and took advantage of the depth at the position. Gallup fits what they were targeting; strong route runner, can separate, very good run after the catch player. Many believe he is a poor man's DJ Moore, with less front line speed. Gallup can play any WR position, but most likely will replace Williams at some point next year. I wanted a receiver with elite speed, but Gallup checks all other boxes that the team needed.

4-Armstrong DE Kansas A

A high upside, right end pass rusher. Before the start of last season, many projected him as a day 1 draft pick as good as Harold Landry. Had a poor year, mainly due to a scheme change, opposing teams game planning against him, did test poorly, but is a legitimate high-end, pass rushing prospect. He has high-end starter potential. Really like this pick!

4b-Dalton Schultz TE Stanford B+

When I was looking for a Jason Witten replacement months ago, Schultz was the player that fit the best. The Cowboys aren't interested in a so called new age TE who basically is a big slot receiver, they want their TE to be balanced, be good in both the run and the pass. Schultz comes from a similar style offense, is a high-end run blocker with a developing receiving game with run after the catch abilities. Extremely young, but good become a very good starter for many years. Both Gathers/Jarwin will be better receiving options early on, but they will not take Schultz off the field much as he's too good of a blocker.

5-Mike White QB Western Kentucky C+

This is where the draft class took a weird turn. Nothing wrong with ever drafting a QB, if they show anything, their value goes thru the roof. I would of rather seen a DT or even a Safety at this point.

6a-Trade for T. Austin B+

I actually love this trade. He is a very good special teams returner, but his value will be adding speed into the offense. No matter if he becomes a gadget Whitehead type of player, teams will think twice about leaving him against a linebacker.

6b-Chris Covington OLB Indiana C

Not much to get excited about adding a special teams only linebacker.

6c-Cedric Wilson WR Boise St. C+

A receiver with some upside. Another Juco transfer who was very productive. Could challenge to become the team's #3 WR down the line.

7-Bo Scarborough RB Alabama B

Like this pick, he is a physical style runner who has the potential to become Zeke's backup.

Final Thoughts-

Team needed better plans to cover for Tyron Smith, Sean Lee which they certainly did in the entire off-season. Needed to get better at WR, that is still cloudy, but the team added more precise route runners with separation abilities, both Gallup/Thomspson should be quality upgrades. If Hurns can match Dez's production from last year, they will be fine. Really like the Tight End they selected, could become a long-term answer at the position. Defensive Line might be the deepest we've seen in quite some time.

I'm disappointed that the team failed to address both the 1 tech DT and the Free Safety positions. Other then that, very satisfied with their off-season as a whole.
