My Draft Needs For 2018

After 3 weeks of the season, here's what I'm thinking looking towards next years draft and off season.
Tell me where I'm wrong.

1. Right Defensive End

I think 2-6 are kind of interchangeable. You could flip the list and make an argument about all of these positions as #2 imo.

2. MLB (Linebacker depth overall)
3. Wide Reciever
4. Tight End
5. Left Guard
6. Safety

These 2 are less of an issue but an upgrade could be had.

7. Right Tackle/Swing Tackle
8. Defensive Tackle (1Tech)

Depth Purposes

9. Runningback
10. Cornerback
11. Quarterback

I agree RDE is the biggest need. Lawrence is playing lights out BUT he's been inconsistent in the past so I wouldn't tag him, and even if they did, it's potentially just a 1-year fix.

Think Safety should be #2. Heath is a Fanboy legend and Byron may be better suited for CB or Nickel.

1-Tech becomes a bigger need if Paea is not brought back and Price appears to be a JAG.

we have invested A lot of picks on Defense In the last 3 drafts, we need them to start making a difference... Based on the Line play this year we need to fix RT and move LC back to LG... My needs are as follows:

1a RT
1b LG if RT is not available
2. LB - Lee is 32+ years old needs to be replaced at sompoint
3. RB - EE is not getting another contract from this team if he keeps acting like he had been after all this suspension stuff.
4. DT - Collin's is good but we need more depth
5. TE - Gold Jacket Wit is only playing a few more years.

not much left from 2015
all of that is depth, very few impact players..good solid, depth guys except Jaylon if he can get back to 100% and possibly Maliek Collins as far as potential game changers

Id flip 3 and 1. Bryant will have two years left on his deal after the season. I think it's time to start grooming a future #1. Drafting one now gives us two years of development with Bryant on the roster and two years of him on a rookie deal to evaluate after Bryants contract expires.

Im a Taco fan, but DE's are so valuable if you have good value on one, take him

1. Strong Safety - with size.
2. 1-Tech - again, with size (DeRon Payne !) A big run blocking stud next to Collins would help the LBers tremendously !
3. WR - Pure, crisp Route Runner.
4. TE - IF Rico is not the future, we need to find one - Now.
5. DE - Depth.
6. LB - Depth
7. LG - Somehow, someway. Believe RT will be fine with Collins eventually, LG - not so much.
With the extra mid-round picks we have, we should be able to stock up a few positions .....

1 - LB who can think on the move like Sean Lee. They do not have to be the best at anything but getting to where the ball is.
2 - OL - Get someone to compete - hopefully a LT.
3 - WR with blazing speed.
4 - SS Darren Woodson type - yes very far and few between

Problem is that because of the idiocy of our FO to take flyers on # RKG druggies and/or badly injured players AND the refusal to consider quality FA, we will hear the same thing we have heard for years and years

Wow, that is sad. Fifteen picks in three years and we got MAYBE 4 decent players....Lewis, Chido, Collins, and Brown.

Byron is more than solid; and if we're saying MAYBE, we need to add Taco and Woods to that list.

We have so many more holes than I expected us to coming into the season. I hate thinking about it.

 

[Verdict]

Defensive End isn't the top need in the draft. I wouldn't be opposed to taking one if we end up with a great one falling into our lap, JUST DRAFT BPA.

Team needs currently appear to be (after week 5):

WR--someone to replace DEZ and TWill.
LB--We seem to suck there right now. The only one that can play is LEE and he is old.
1TECH--When will we ever learn, and get a good one?

I think we could use two very good LBs and two replacement receivers. The good news is both of those can be obtained in free agency.

Beasley, Butler and Switzer might be a good low price reciving corps and Noah Brown might be the next low priced Dez Bryant. If we draft a true #1 it wouldn't hurt my feelings, or just go solid mid tier free agent like Garcon or Desean Jackson, Golden Tate, etc.
