I think the NFL needs to pull it's head out of its rear and wake up to the opportunity the draft brings.

I would like to see the draft hosted in different NFL cities. Each year it is in a different spot so the fans can participate.

And those obnoxious eagles, Giants and Jets fans won't be there each year screaming and booing.

Fact is, I'd like to see the new stadium host the draft with that giant TV.

Opinions?

I would miss the stupid Jets fans.

But no matter where they hold it I will be an addict.

They have discussed this, and I think it would be a great idea. This idea that New York is the media capital of the world is a dying concept because of how connected the world is. Everything is instant online, and there is plenty of coverage of the NFL from anywhere. One of the greatest things of the draft is the fans. I'm not sure it would have to be at different teams' stadiums, but possibly arenas, or large convention centers. But by moving it around to different states/cities, it gives chances for other fans to get involved in the draft.

I wouldn't miss them one bit.

I used to take off of classes to watch the draft in the early nineties when I was in college.

IIRC, isn't there only something like 4500 seats available for fans anyways? Bring that bad boy to Dallas and let's fill up that stadium. Jerrah probably wouldn't mind.
Another idea would be to let the NFL take it to neutral cities with domes and really spread the NFL experience around.

The die-hards are going to come no matter what, but then again the BovineS*PN network wouldn't have to drag it's production team around the nation if it stays in New York. Kiper's hair grease probably would take a full freight train of tanker cars to keep it slicked to the right viscosity in a high humidity environment like Houston or San Antonio.

The only thing wrong with the draft is the money given to the top of the 1st round.

I would really like the NFL to leave alone as many things as possible. Call it tradition or what not, some things just need to stay the way they are. If they started moving the draft, they are gonna start looking for other things to start moving around. Thanksgiving games are already in jeopardy from recent talks and there was a thread about the Superbowl going overseas. They are already fiddling with the Pro Bowl in an attempt to make it more relevant (which is irrelevant to me no matter what so I guess I don't care) and I think that is as far as it should go.

The Draft, T-Day games and The Superbowl are perfect the way they are. No need to mess with success.

Besides, if they turned the draft into more of a scripted event, it would be painful to watch. Watching the clock waste away with each pick in the top 10 was painful enough, you better believe they will push for full time usage if they turn it into more of a circus. I applaud the Commanders for picking immediately. I missed their pick because I assumed I had at least 8 minutes.

If they come up with a rookie salary cap you can bet the draft will be much longer. Those top teams will be trading out of the top 10 to get more picks. More teams will move up to grab that one player they feel can take them to the Super Bowl. For this reason I do not see it moving to prime time. This year was fast but normally it is not.

That is the best and worst reason.....

Why NYC. Because there is a diversified fan base in the city and that is what the NFL wants to show. They want a media event. They want the Jets fans chanting and others groaning when players are picked.

If the draft was in say Pittsburgh this year it would have 70% Steeler fans, Some Browns and Bengal fans with Cowboy fans there.
And just some random fan screaming out when players are chosen.

Not the diversity the NFL is looking for,
