What I will consider a successful draft: We all know the needs and the nice to have positions. DE, DT, FS, WR, G/T and it would be great to pick up help at LB, RB, CB and maybe a QB to groom, but to me those spots are optional. I listed 5 positions below. Get me 1 guy from the DE list for sure, and 1 more guy from at least 3 of the other 4 lists and I will sign up for it right now. Obviously depending on who we take in rd 1 you can eliminate a few guys as options from the other list but I think it is possible if you go DE or DT in rd 1 and 2, safety or WR in 3 and g/t in rd 4 to get 4 guys from my lists, which would make me very happy.

WDE
Anthony Barr
Dee Ford
Trent Murphy
Scott Chrichton
Demarcus Lawrence
Kareem Martin

DT
Aaron Donald

Kony Ealy (good value AFTER the 1st rd pick because he can play 3spot too)
DaQuan Jones
Kelcy Quarles
Dominique Easly
Caraun Reid

S
Ha Ha Clinton-Dix
Calvin Pryor
Jimmy Ward
Deion Buchanon
Terrance Brooks
Lamarcus Joyner

WR

I'd go Beckham in the first (or trade up and take Sammy)... The offense is 1 player away from being elite. The defense is a few players away.

I hear you but I think we are so far away on D that we couldn't do that. I could live with a Beckham at 16 but not a trade up that costs us picks.

Offense was Top 5 in the NFL. How much more elite do you want? While I am not opposed to a WR if the value is there, adding a top flight WR with the first pick puts pressure on your 2nd pick having to be for defense and having to be a home run because the voids on that side of the ball dwarf any issues you have offensively.

And frankly, if you are going offense in the first, I'd rather have an OL than a WR.

We have to commit to the D to improve. The offense is definitely a secondary need.

The offense put up numbers, but fizzled out way too often/couldn't sustain drives. Now that was mostly due to playcalling, but we still need a true #2 WR to put across from Dez. I'm not a full believer in T Will just yet. I'd still be fine going D line/LB in the first as long as we don't reach on anybody. Then go with a WR in the 2nd or 3rd since that position is so deep. I'd just much rather start drafting the best available player instead of drafting based on needs.
