Using only players currently on the dc.com website as candidates. This is what I'd like to see happen with a couple of surprises.

WR...Owens
WR...Crayton
WR...Stanback (Yep, a base 3 WR set. I wish it were Glenn, but...)
TE...Witten
LT...Adams
LG...Kosier (I'd say McQuistan, but continuity on OL is crucial.)
C...Gurode
RG...Davis
RT...Columbo
RB...Barber
QB...Romo

Short yardage take out Crayton and Stanback, bring in Bennett and Cricket. 3rd downs take out Barber, bring in Jones or Choice.

LDE...Hatcher
NT...Ratliff
RDE...Canty (I love the DL depth. Would love to see a rotation.)
SOLB...Spencer
LILB...Thomas
RILB...James
WOLB...Ware
LCB...Newman
SS...Williams
FS...Hamlin
RCB...Jenkins (Yes, I'm serious. I'd also like to see a lot of Jones and Henry.)

K...Folk
P...McBriar
LS...LaDoucer
KR...Jenkins
KR...F. Jones
PR...A. Jones

With the exception of Spears and Jenxy getting into the mix, I don't know if I saw any 'surprises'.

Spears has played his way out of a starting role and a player not to be mentioned (please don't let this turn into a RW thread) will probably be more of a part time player himself. That would move K. Ham into that (SS) positon which will subsequently give your 1st rounder plenty of time on the field.

C'mon Hos! You've gone out on a limb before, where's RW...(not that player not to be mentioned)? ;)

I still think we will make a serious run at him. It's about timing.

I'm not saying that its out of the question, but what I am saying is that overall your prediction is somewhat, Sunday driving.

How 'bout this....everything that you said but, by the end of the season I think that Stanback will be more of a #2 and Crayton the slot (3)

1) If T. Glenn isn't healthy
2) If the Cowboys go with more 3 WR sets.

IMO, Stanback has much more big play ability, and I also think that when it all shakes out the Cowboys 3 receiver set may resemble the Cowboys 3 set in the 90's

T.O. big play/must go to guy = M. Irvin

Crayton, security blanket for Romo. May not break it all the way but is very productive and versatile = a better K-mart

Stanback, very little film on 86. Big WR who can get chunks of yardage and score in the redzone because of his size and exceptional athletic ability. Similar background to Crayton but may be a better athlete on this level = A. Harper

Maybe that's not going out on too much of a limb but I think it would surprise most people. ;)

I'd love to see that myself. Here are my takes on a few spots you mentioned:

Man, I really, really hope he comes on enough to see serious playing time this year. He absolutely has the athleticism... but I hope he will have the know-how after learning for a year.

If so... look out. He has the ability to take much more advantage of the attention TO and Witten draw than Crayton does.

That is the three I hope to see starting. Spears might start one more year with Hatch coming in on passing downs... but I hope to (and think we probably will) see what you have listed.

Like you, I think our depth is extremely good. If Tank plays as well as I think he might... there could be all kind of players switching spots up front, depending on the situation. With Tank, Rat, Canty, Spears, and Hatch, we basically have 5 starters... and Bowen has a good pass rush for a fringe player.

SOLB...Spencer

A lot of people think Ellis will still see the lion's share of snaps at SOLB... but I think Spencer breaks out this year and provides a scary element opposite Ware. I still say that Ellis will see some snaps at nickel/dime DE, allowing him to be in with Ware/Spence.

By all accounts Jenkins is looking like one of those rare rookies that you "can just tell right away" that he's going to be a very, very good player. I can absolutely see how he might would be starting this year some on the right side. If Pacman is playing all year for us, I think he probably starts ahead of Jenkins, but I could see why the coaches would put the rookie in.

That isn't to say that Henry is just getting pushed aside. Quite the contrary. His experience and versatility will make him very valuable to the defense and I think he'll see some time at a variety of spots. Overall though, I think he'll play just as much as anyone.

Assuming Pacman plays i can't see any way Jenkins can start this season other then injury to one of our starters, i would love to be wrong though.

Spencer over Ellis is going to happen sooner or later hopefully it would be due to skills and nothing else

I could see the FB not being in the starting lineup, but only because we are going for Barber and Felix on the field together.

Felix as the RB/WR in place of Stanback.

On defense I can't go with starting a rookie CB over Jones and Henry if they are on the roster. He can be the #3 CB when we have deep help on the field, but I wouldn't start him over those two guys.

I think Pacman has already replaced Henry in the starting lineup, whether or not it's listed anywhere is another story. I would look for that to happen about a week into training camp.

If Pacman is fully reinstated, I do not see any way Jenkins starts over him, especially given that Pacman is now allowed to practice with the team (learn the system just as Jenkins is learning it) and also play in the preseason. Opposing offenses like to eat rookie CBs alive. There's no sense in him learning the hard way on the field when Pacman will be more than adequate opposite Newman.

How did I know before looking at your defense, that you wouldn't have Pacman starting.:)

Depth is a good thing. Especially at CB and DL. Having some starting jobs up for grabs like RCB and LDE because you have more than one guy who should be starting is a good thing.

I don't believe there is such a thing as 22 starters anymore.
The Cowboys have 8 true offensive starters:
QB....Romo
WR...Owens
TE....Witten
OT....Adam
OG....Koiser
OC....Geroude
OG....Davis
OT....Columbo
In addition to that you have 7 situational players:
RB.....Barber
RB.....Jones
FB.....Anderson
TE.....Curtis
WR....Glenn
WR....Crayton

On defense the Cowboys have 5 starters:
LCB.......Jones
RCB.......Newman
FS.........Hamlin
SS.........Williams
ROLB/DE..Ware

In addition to those they have 13 situational players:
RDE.......Canty
NT........Johnson
LDE.......Spears
DT.........Hatcher
DT.........Ratliff
LOLB/DE..Spencer
LOLB/DE..Ellis
MLB........James
MLB........Thomas
MLB........Carpenter
NLB.........Burnett
CB..........Henry
CB..........Jenkins
