QB

Tony Romo
Jon Kitna
Stephen McGee

Easy call

RB

Felix Jones
Marion Barber
Tashard Choice

Same as QB

HB/FB

Scott Sicko

Long shot this will happen but we will see.

OT

Marc Colombo
Doug Free
Alex Barron
Sam Young

Team will try to groom Young to replace Colombo in a season or two and Barron gives us experienced depth.

C

Andre Gurode

Gurode has quietly been the most consistent linemen on our team the last few years.

OG

Leonard Davis OT
Kyle Kosier
Montrae Holland C
Pat McQuistan OT
Robert Brewster OT

Team has been trying to move McQuistan to guard the last few season… he will need to show something at guard to make the team this season. The team loves linemen that can play multiple position and these guys can.

TE

Jason Witten
Martellus Bennett
John Phillips

Will Bennett mature and keep his head in the game or will he allow Phillips to steal snaps from him like last year?

WR

Miles Austin
Roy Williams
Dez Bryant
Kevin Ogletree
Sam Hurd

Good mix of youth and experience with this group. If Dez plays like the team thinks he can and Roy gets it in gear this could be one of the most talented receiving groups we have ever had. For now Tony Hill, Drew Pearson, Butch Johnson and Golden Richards is still my fav!

25

DE

Marcus Spears
Igor Olshansky
Jason Hatcher
Stephen Bowen
Marcus Dixon

Solid group with or without Marcus Spears!

NT

Jay Ratliff
Junior Siavii
Sean Lissemore

One more season with big bodied Junior Siavii and then our boys will need to draft a real 3-4 NT to pair with Ratliff.

OLB

DeMarcus Ware
Anthony Spencer
Victor Butler
Brandon Williams
Curtis Johnson / Vet

Ware and Spencer form the best OLB tandem in the league but what happens if either of them get hurt? Team my try to find a veteran for insurance.

ILB

Bradie James
Keith Brooking
Sean Lee
Jason Williams

Team feels Sean Lee is ready now and Jason Williams has the physical tools to develop.

CB

Terence Newman
Mike Jenkins
Orlando Scandrick
Akwasi Owusu-Ansah FS

This would be my preferred line-up but you can flip flop Ansah and Ball and I would be just as happy.

S

Gerald Sensabaugh
Oshiomogho Atogwe
Mike Hamlin
Alan Ball CB

In my dream world the team will pick up Atogwe in June and keep Owusu-Ansah or Ball at CB. Atogwe is a turnover machine and the Cowboys need more take always on defense.

PK

David Buehler

Everyone knows he has a big leg… but is he accurate? Somebody’s roster spot depends on it.

P

Mat McBriar

Pro Bowl punter!

LS

L.P Ladouceur

For the last six years nobody has even though about the Long Snapper lets hope Ladouceur can keep doing a top notch job!

PS

HB Herb Donaldson
WR Terrell Hudgins
OL Will Barker
OL Phil Costa
DT Junior Aumavae
LB Stephen Hodge
S Barry Church
CB Jamar Wall

Hodge may need another year to recover from injury. WR Terrell Hudgins and S Barry Church could make the 53 next season if they put in the work.

FB – Gronkowski

OG/C Bright

OT - Barron

OG - Brewster

we will have to see if the boys want to go with basically all rooks as backup line men - but hey they gotta play to learn
I think Tepper beats out Young

S/CB AOA

PS
DE Lorenzo Washington Alabama 6-5 #275

heard that really like this kid

Nice early list but for me some changes

OC/OG Bright over McQ or Holland

TE Witten, Bennett, Phillips, Sicko - if someone offers a 2nd for Bennett it will be bye bye

FB Gronkowski

WR Hurd but fighting against a couple of other like Ryan, Hudgins, Tucker, Holley

DE Lissemore still believe that Spears is traded before the season starts

NT Washington or Amuvae - Lissemore can play both also, more potential with these three than with Savaii

LB Hodge over Johnson

CB Wall and McCann - we will go with 5 here

S - AOA, Hamlin, Ball, Sensabaugh, Church - could see a vet like OJ Atowge but really think Jerry won't go there

ST - Buehler will be the kicker (only), Ladouceur will battle Sicko as long snapper and remember Bright and Brewster have both done some long snapping as has Hodge. Ladouceur can only long snap so could see this as a roster spot save if one of the other show as good especially with new rule of not being able to line up over the long snapper any more.

PS - Would add Nichols at QB, we will carry one there,

not bad over all. but we are not going to keep 3 NTs. I also don't see us getting rid of crayton.

Sean Lissemore is a DE/DT type player with a high motor the team hopes can develop into a Ratliff type NT.

Remember took Jay 2+ years to develop into a solid NT before taking over for and injured Ferguson. I don't think Lissemore can come in and be the guy from day one It will take time for him just like it took Jay time. If the team indeed only keeps two NT's I fear it's Lissemore that will be the odd man out.

IMO the team really needs to get a legit NT backing up Ratliff here. If Jay goes down it will kill the ability for us to run a 3-4 effectivly. That is why I keep Junior Siavii on the roster for another season because I don't think Lissemore could take over Ratliff's job as a rookie if Jay were injured.

I don't like the depth we have here even if we keep both Siavii and Lissemore but a Ratliff/Lissemore combo would cause me to lose sleep.

Sandyf

Travis Bright is big, very strong and 27 years old, he is older the McQuistan by a few months. His inexperience and age will cost him a roster spot IMO. I like this guys story but I don't think it has a happy ending for him in Dallas.

4 QB on the roster is a bit much but I guess It could happen.

I don't think the team is ready to give up on Bennett just yet but the hand writing is on the wall for sure. I do think Bennett could lose even more reps to Phillips if he dose not step it up though.

I'm very interested in seeing what happens to Sicko. The team will try to find a spot for him but he could still get caught up in the numbers crunch.

LB Hodge is not 100% yet so that could factor in the equation.

M'Kevon

The team stated they would like Montrae Holland to be our Guard/Center on Gameday for us this season. Cowboy brass will give him every opportunity to capture that job and I believe he will. Also I have C/G Phil Costa on the Practice Squad as an emergency option.

DE Lorenzo Washington for sure could make the Practice Squad and Hodge could be cut or end up on injured reserved again this season.

no way Dallas is going into the season with just four corners, regardless if Ball is the safety/corner option

The Quest for Six

That is what I was thinking when the team surprised me and went with 4 last season. All I did was put DB Akwasi Owusu-Ansah in CB Cletis Gordon's spot.

If the team goes with 5 CB's this year (like they should) then add Gordon or a vet pick-up and scratch OLB Curtis Johnson.

Sean Lissemore was drafted to be a DE in the 3-4.

Actually if you listen to what coach Phillips and Jerry Jones have been saying about Lissemore it's clear the team drafted him with the though of moving him inside, they feel in time he can develop into a Ratliff type NT. The Cowboys even have him listed as a DT on the roster.

No doubt Lissemore for now is more suited to play DE in the 3-4 but for the purpose of this roster projection I put him at the position the team has him listed and for now that is DT same as Ratliff and Siavii.

I think you might be able to scratch McGee and put the young fa on the PS...carry only two QBs on game day.

I really like this option makes more sense cause we need cornerbacks but if the curtis guy can be whom be brought him to be could really be key but I think we are higher on brandon williams and butler

Too heavy @ OT and too light @ CB.

Naw 4 OT's is just right.... no way they go with less you can look at our roster for the last 30 years and see that they never have went with less then 4 OT's.

Now I do have 5 guards listed but remember that one of them (Holland) is the back-up center. If the team is going to go light it will be at this position and as stated Pat McQuistain is on the bubble.

The team has gone with 4 CB's before but I agree 5 is better.... we'll see how that shapes up.

Crayton ?

It's funny how after Crayton's big drop in the Giants game fans came out the wood works wanting him out of Dallas. For better or worst if Dez Bryant peforms well this preseason (maybe sooner) then Crayton is out!

Yes, Dallas would "like" to have Holland as backup center, but there's no guarantee he's up to the job. They felt so confident that he was released, then resigned.

And having a backup option on the practice squad isn't an option during a game. Practice players cannot play unless they are signed to the 53 man roster; he would be useless if Gurode was injured during the game.

Plus, both options have the downside of playing a totally inexperienced player at center.

Where is Manny Johnson & Jesse Holley? or Danny McCray, Bryan McCann, Lonyae Miller, Chris Gronkowski, Lorenzo Washington, Titus Ryan, or Mike Tepper?

Your absolutely right there is no guarantee that Holland is up to the job of playing back-up Guard/Center for us so we will have to wait and see how that turns out, however we do know the team wants Holland to be that guy for us because they have openly said so. If they felt so confident in Procter they wouldn't be trying to give the job to Holland right?

Thanks for the lesson on the practice squad, I simply took for granted you understood how that works.

In my projection I'm pretty sure I said that Holland would be the Gameday option at Guard/Center. As we know any other center on the 53 man roster that is not on the 45 man gameday roster is no better then a Practice Squad player because they can not enter the game either.

I'm sorry my Phill Costa on the Pratice Squad as an emergency option side tracked ya IMO he only makes the 45 man gameday roster is if there is a long term injury to Andre Gurode and no veteran center can be found as a replacement. As of now the only experienced center on the market worth a spit is old man Kevin Mawae but I don't think our boys are interested in his services.

Bottom line is I listed Holland over your boy Procter as back-up guard/center in my projection because it's his job to lose. Holland's play on the filed in training camp and pre-season will determine both his and Procter's future with the team.

Mick Swag

I would love to keep them all but unfortunately you can only work with so many... Add them to a projection as you see fit I would love to see it.
