via FA, who can we add to give us they Haley and Lett type production? Who in the draft could offer the same

The most obvious FA comparison to a Haley-type impact would be Greg Hardy. He also has issues, like Haley did when we got him from San Fran (not saying Haley had the same kind of issues). I think Crawford will be most relied upon to produce Lett type production, while Dallas hopes Lawrence can at least be Tolbert-like.

We don't have the same kind of quality depth we did back then, but I think Dallas is trying to at least have solid depth with players like Mincey while upgrading as the opportunity presents itself. The goal is to get back to having that kind of quality depth, but it's a difficult place to reach in this era because as soon as you get there, the players are moving on to greener pastures.

I'm just hopeful we can get to the point where we have at least three high-quality linemen and then not such a steep drop-off that we fall apart when they are out of the game. I think Dallas tried to start moving that direction last year, but will need to continually improve upon it to get to where the Cowboys want to be.

The stud FA DE is the key. They need to find a way to get that done although the options are limited. The top 2 are Hardy and McPhee, IMO.

fwiw, I think it would take quite a bit to steal McPhee from the Colts. They have a huge need at pass rusher and Pagano is familiar with him from Baltimore and I expect he would go there if any deal was close. Hardy can likely be had just by out bidding everyone, but Atlanta has a ton of cap room, a huge need and a GM on the hot seat.
