I think all the dudes from #20 to like #40 in this draft class look about the same. A bunch of steady Eddies who are going to start a bunch of games but won't be difference makers. I haven't looked too closely at past draft classes, but in most years, it feels feels like that talent dropoff from "impact starter" to "average player" usually happens 5 or 10 picks later.
Maybe we'll catch a falling stud at #20 and be really glad that we were picking at the front of "average player" line, but it feels more like we're going to have to end up reaching for a guy.
McDonald's definitely a steady Eddie, he's going to lock down two gaps for the next decade. But Lee Hunter has like his same exact game and 95% of his talent. And Caleb Banks has the physical upside neither of those guys do, if you're willing to gamble on his feet.
In a perfect world, I'd just trade down to like pick #35 and get an extra 3rd, then take whichever DT makes it to our new pick. Or if none of them do, we could still grab a different faller like say EMW or Cashius Howell.
But I don't think that trade phone's going to be ringing. If we end up standing at #20, then I think McDonald's about as good as anyone else we'd get.
