My Fear: Maybe Parcells can't get it done!

Guys:

I have this uneasy feeling that BP may not be able to get it done. I've been pulling for him and I still have hopes, but this last game shakes me up a bit. If BP can't do it then we have to start over with new coach and if the guy is from the outside that means wholesale personnel changes. That sets us back a couple of years. My analysis of BP so far:

Team Conditioning: Great

Drafting: Questionable, but hopeful. Definite improvement this year. Jeff Ireland may be the man.

Free agency: Questionable, but hopeful

Team disipline: Good, I think

Coaching strategy, offense: Highly questionable. I think we should be 3-1 right now. Anyone could see we weren't going to run the ball on Oakland and we didn't adjust until it was too late. I don't know if this offensive line is going to come around and I don't understand the coaching hire for the offensive line. If the offensive line doesn't improve it's going to be a long year. This one area will make or break the Cowboys. BP is trying to operate in a manner that might not be feasible for this year.

Coaching strategy, defense: Questionable, but somewhat hopeful. I don't like the 3-4 matchups when the offense is in a three receiver set, but maybe it will work when we get more experience and better linebackers. Key areas here are Rookie development, ultimate replacement of Keith Davis and linebacker improvement. I do like the idea or multiple sets (3-4 and 4-3) to confuse the offense.

Lets hope for the best.

First off, since I am not sure if I have done so before...Welcome to the board.

Second...we could be 3-1, however we could also be 1-3...young team, new members we are inconsistent and it is showing.

Lastly - I think Bill is taking estrogen pills. : :laugh2:

Don't feel bad. We could as easily be 0-4 as we could be 4-0. The law of averages is catching up to us.

Leave the shouldas and couldas at home.

We still have 12 more games to play. Let's reserve judgment until after the season is over (or lost).

my take is that Bill has always been successful not because of Xs and Os but because he is a master motivator. his gameplanning may be less than perfect, and his ability to improvise is probably not his strong suit, but he will get the job done. you can quote me on that.
at the same time, we do have to be realistic. 10 rookies is it, on the current roster? many more in only their second or third season. a new defensive scheme, run by a coach who's never had experience with it. there will be speedbumps aplenty while we sort out what works from what doesn't...
