I'm using CBS Sports' player rankings, and assuming we will be picking somewhere in the 20's. This is all for fun.

1. Desmond King CB Iowa- With Mo and Carr potentially leaving, we need help in the secondary. King probably would have been a first rounder last year, and would be a solid addition to our secondary.

2. Jarrad Davis ILB/OLB Florida- The Cowboys LB corp has lacked stability for several seasons. Davis has the speed and hitting ability to be a long time starter in this league.

3. Cooper Kupp WR Eastern Washington- Not an elite athlete, but a very smart football player. I think he and Dak would work great together.

4. Daeshon Hall DE Texas A&M- Hall is a speed rusher that is coming in to his own. He only weighed 200lbs as a freshman, but has bulked up to 260 now and is matching Myles Garrett's production so far this year.

5. Traded for Matt Cassel

6. Hardy Nickerson LB Illinois- NFL bloodlines and a tackling machine. Should be a solid ST player and depth at LB.

7a (from Cassel trade) Dalvin Tomlinson DT Alabama- Overlooked part of Alabama's line. Has long arms, lead their DL in pass breakups last year. Was a 3X state HS wrestling champ.

7b Xavier Woods S Louisiana Tech- Plays both the run and the pass well. Small school player but looks to have the tools to develop into a starter some day.

I agree with tm.

The only way we wait until the 4th round to take a DL is if the team went nuts in free agency and brought in a few high level DEs. Although, I don't think this a particularly good offseason to be needing a pass rushing DE in free agency.

Then again, considering that they actually thought they did a nice job at DE this offseason, maybe the front office will repeat their stupidity.

Any mock that doesn't have us taking D line until the 4th is a complete and utter failure.
yea their are way too many good to great edge rushers in the draft to not walk away with one by the end of day 2.

I actually like this draft but give me Deluca with the last pick and give me a S in FA and I'm good.
I understand what respondents are saying but if we pick a DL he has to be a day 1 starter because our DL rotation isn't that bad if we get everyone back (to esp include Gregory) and its fairly deep. Sure would be nice to upgrade somewhere there but unless we pick pretty high I'm not sure the options will be great because edge rushers fly off the boards on draft day.
The secondary will definitely need attention because I doubt we bring back BOTH Mo and Carr and the other S position is still pretty weak. I think we bring Mo back but it costs us good money. King would be an instant upgrade over Carr, whom I guessing we let walk unless he takes low average money to stay, and we could move Oscan back to the slot where he made his career, and leave Brown on his rookie contract to back them all up.
I like the attention to the LB corps which is going to be thin next year. Ro will certainly be gone, we can't ever count on Lee making it through a full season, and we have no idea if Jaylon will play and even if he does if he will be good. I could see Durant coming back, which I would be for (not that he's not an injury liability too) but we need a few more players there. Hitchens hasn't been that good and he'll be coming to the end of his contract soon. Love the two LB picks.
I don't know much about the WR pick but I do totally agree we need an outside WR desperately. To be completely honest, I could see us looking for a new #1 WR in the next few years because Dez has not been reliable and we still don't know if he's fully back to being as explosive as he was before last year's injury. So if can pick up a good, young #2 now I think it would be good. I'm guessing Kupp would be a big possession-type WR. I'd love to see a burner over there but probably a future draft.
Overall, nice work!

I really like it, with the exception of the 3rd round pick. Not that I don't like it, per se, I just don't know who the guy is. King and Davis would be awesome - and instant upgrades.

Take a DE in round 1, then take the rest of your draft.

This years draft is very deep at both corner and safety. Their seems to be plenty of good to great edge rushers in this years draft but that could also mean some return to school for their final year. I honestly see Mo returning on a multiyear and Carr returning on a 1 or 2 year deal if he cant get what he wants in free agency. And Kupp is a slot WR. He seems to be everyones pet cat this year. same for Deluca but Deluca is trying to stay another year due to injury. We have the Beas who is already a top slot WR. If we draft a WR he needs to be a big body who can either fight off defenders and go up and get the ball or a burner.
