After week 9 I believe we’ve currently got the 22nd pick, though it’s still way too early. Draft order and prospect rankings will change wildly between now and draft time but this is all for fun.
We sent our 5th rounder to the Jets last year in a draft day trade. We acquired Jayrone Elliott for a conditional 7th at the start of the year, but cut him before we had to give up the pick. Other than that I found an article on the NFL website from Lance Zierlein projecting us to receive 4 comp pick (a 4th, and three 5ths) which will be included.
1)Ronnie Harrison S Alabama 6’3” 214lbs- A force against both the run and pass, plus he’s an emotional leader on the field. Should combine with Woods to lock down the back end of the secondary.
2)Josh Allen LB Kentucky 6’5” 230lbs- He can play inside or outside. Solid run defender and among the SEC sack leaders. I’m not sold on our LBs as a group. Lee is great when healthy, Hitchens is solid, and Smith is showing signs of life. Outside that guys like Wilber and Wilson continue to get far too much playing time.
3)Poona Ford DT Texas 6’0” 305lbs- High motor guy. Uses his hands and leverage to win in the middle. Doesn’t show up on the stat sheet much but is one of the better run stoppers in the draft.
4)Martez Carter RB Grambling St 5’9” 205lbs- Change of pace back and deadly receiver out of the backfield. Competition level is low but he’s averaging over 5 ypc and has caught a 30+ yard pass in 5/9 games this year. Should see a rise like Tarik Cohen last year.
4(comp) DJ Chark WR LSU 6’4” 198lbs- QB play is holding him back from being a big name right now, but his size and speed could give us the deep threat we need. Should be able to take Butler’s job.
5(comp) Frank Ragnow OL Arkansas 6’5” 317lbs- One of the top centers in college before an ankle injury ended his year. Has also played G. He’s a mauler in the run game and improves depth.
5(comp) Levi Wallace CB Alabama 6’0” 183lbs- Former walk-on, now one of the best corners in the country. Not athletically gifted, but plays with a chip on his shoulder.
5(comp) Hercules Mata’afa DE Washington St 6’2” 252lbs- Currently playing as a miscast DT, this guy has a nose for the football. I know many people want a DE earlier but I think our front 4 has definitely emerged as a strength.
For now this is as far as I can go.
