I did this quite a bit last year and the year before (but I think that was on dc.com) but have stayed out of this year, but I wanted to do one before everything went down so here I go... be gentle lol.
1st- Ramsey: This seems like it's obviously our pick if he's there, and I think there is about a 70% chance he will be there. Enough said.
2nd- Emmanuel Ogbah DE the other OSU: For the 3rd year in a row we go DE in 2nd. I originally had Bullard here, but I wanted to go with a guy that I think is a bit more of a risk, but with a higher ceiling. Give Marinelli a new toy to play with and try to grow (from what I have seen and heard he needs more growth than most other players at this spot). Still he had a huge year last year as an edge rusher, and hopefully he can continue that here.
3rd- Derrick Henry (do I need to do this part): I don't like him in the second but I have seen some mocks having his drop this far and I could see it happening, maybe with a small trade up. While I am worried about the Alabama RB factor, I think it's worth investing a 3rd in him. He won the Hesiman for a reason last year, and I think behind the right o-line he could continue that dominance at the next level... luckily for us we have just such a line.
4th- B.J. Goodson ILB Clemson: This is where these mocks start getting hard for me because I don't know these guys that well, so I decided to defer and take someone another source had for us. I looked a bit at him and he seemed like he was a solid player at a position of need who could fill a vital depth role, sounds good for a 4th rounder.
4th comp- Kevin Hogan QB Stanford: The Cowboys need a backup and by this time most guys we are interested in (Hackenburg, Prescott, etc.) are gone at this point. Yes his arm motion is horrible, and that's probably not workable, but I think he could be a decent backup almost right away with his instincts and intelligence that led him to an incredibly successful 2015 season (stupid Cardinal embarrassing my Hawkeyes). I think he might have a low ceiling, but I think his floor is that of a viable backup.
Somewhere in the 6th- Drew Ott DE Iowa: Speaking of my Hawkeyes... I mostly got attacked for suggesting him before but I still think his high motor and work ethic will lead to him being a very good rotational guy at the next level. The fact that he did have so many sacks and TFLs in his college career while playing in a conference known for producing good offensive linemen is just icing on the cake
I am going to give it up there, because I really don't know most of these prospects that well, so how bad was I
