I haven't used the mock draft simulator before so decided to try a five round simulation. For player ratings I used NFL scout. I include a few scouting bullets for each pick from NFL.com that try to show how the player would help the Cowboys. Going through the process was fun. It makes you look at a lot of different players that you normally might not have and it also shows how hard it is to get good players that fit all of the teams needs. For example I didn't take a WR until round 5 but took a OG pretty early. The thinking was that our offense sets up the play action pass with the run so we need a good replacement for Cooper.

1:19 LB Leighton Vander Esch Boise State
-Easy sideline-to-sideline range as tackler
-Very talented in coverage
2:50 G Braden Smith Auburn
-Weight room strong and field strong
-Mauler with power at the point of attack
3:17 DL Tim Settle Virginia Tech
-Rare agility for a man his size
-Has ability to penetrate and two-gap
4:16 Jessie Bates III Wake Forest
-Instinctive
-Instant trigger to the throw
4:37 LB Fred Warner Brigham Young
-Plays with plus instincts
-Quick to diagnose and trigger downhill for TFLs
5:34 WR Keke Coutee Texas Tech
-Tremendous deep speed who devours coverage cushion with his initial push into routes
-Warrants additional attention from safeties no matter where he lines up
-Separation comes easily for him

I wouldn't mind this draft at all. I'm still undecided between LVE and Evans at first round LB...

They both could possibly fill a hoe on defense I wonder which one the Cowboys like better.

The draft show guys all seem to lean towards Evans, for whatever that's worth. A lot of pisters here are down on LVE, for whatever reason (though I assume it's Bobby Carpenter, who LVE looks much better than).

One of the more realistic ones I’ve seen.
Good effort, and nice haul.

Same here. I like this draft but I think I am leaning towards Evans as I don't like some the negative comments about LVE that are coming out. Never seen him play though so I can not give my opinion.

I believe Evans is more ready to make an impact, but LVE has a higher ceiling.

I can see that. That is one reason why I am torn between the pick.

My preference is LVE, but I’m biased because I live here in Boise. Watching him reminded me of Sean Lee.
I’d gladly take another Lee sans the injury bug.

I have seen that comparison also and that is not bad minus the injuries.

I've seen him compared to Kuechly and Urlacher also. It's hard to tell from a highlight clip but he looks pretty instinctive, did you notice that watching him?

He can be a little slow to react, but I think a lot of that is due to lack of experience.
Once he does react, he like Lee, has an uncanny ability to get through the trash to make the play in the backfield and his athleticism allows him to close in a flash.
His ability to drop into coverage and make plays also sets him apart. With his size, he’s not going to be outmuscled by TE’s.
Biggest negative is his lack of experience and shedding blocks.
Biggest positives are his athleticism; size; work ethic; willingness to learn and ability to avoid blockers.
