I hope this is the right area for this. I'm going to my first game at the new stadium this weekend vs. the Rams.

Just seeing if anyone had any tips for things to make sure I do, see, parking tips, tailgaiting anything! I'll be sitting in Sec. 223 - Row 3. I was lucky enough to win the auction for tickets an awesome anonymous individual and WoodysGirl had on the forum recently.

I understand I'll probably pay an arm and a leg for parking. Just seeing if anyone had any tips of where to find the best deal for parking. Shortest walk, cheapest price! Or if anyone maybe had an extra parking pass close by the stadium I could buy from them!

Also, how does tailgaiting work? Can you just go up and purchase hamburgers and stuff from people!? :laugh1:

Thanks so much for your help guys. I really appreciate it.

Are you sure you're even old enough to tailgate?

^ Of course I am. I've just never tailgated before. Not sure of the proper etiquette. Or what even goes on, haha. I'm assuming there is beer and food. And it'd be cool to get both and party a bit before the game with some other Cowboys fans. :)

No. You bring your own food and drink when tailgating, bro. You get there early and hang out in the parking lot with your fellow fans.

Oh, haha. I envisioned a ton of grills set up with people selling burgers and beer, HAHA.

I'm sure there will be plenty of grills in use but it's not a county fair.

Going to the game is an easy process. My advise is to eat somewhere nearby before the game and snack once you are there. Have fun!

Ok, I think I get what tailgating really is now. I'm a NOOB. Sorry about that.

No, you don't go up to people and ask to buy food. LMAO.

Tailgating is more acceptible in the actual lots of the stadium. You'll just have to pay for the pass. It'll be at LEAST $60. When I buy my parking passes online, they're $80. Man up and pay it. It's all Jerry's fault. :D

I'd recommend going to Wal-Mart (there's one across the street), buy a cheap grill/disposable grill...some food, some beer, and have fun. Make the price of the parking pass worth it by tailgating hours before the game, and a few hours after. It's Saturday. Great time.

I'll be there..more than likely LOT 10 or 11. PM me if you want to come by and say HI/drink a beer. My name is Ryan.

Cowboys fans here are really nice, and MILD. However, PLEASE be loud at the game. We have the WORST home crowd ever :horse:

Most importantly...HAVE FUN!

*feel free to PM me if you have any more ???'s

I appreciate it! I was thinking of going to Hooters before the game and parking there. I read that might be a good idea. Also thought about parking at Lincoln Square and getting the $40 Gift Card which would allow me to park there.

Don't do that. Tailgating is a HUGE experience of a game. Why pay $40 to WALK blocks to the stadium, when you can pay a little more, and tailgate. You're coming in from out-of-town, so you should OPTIMIZE the experience.

I'll probably catch up with you there. You going to have grill/food? If we set this up right I can bring a load of beer.

There is a Walgreens on the West Side of the Stadium that will let you park there, if you buy $40 or $50 worth of their merchandise. If you want to smuggle in snacks, to save even more money at the game, that's probably the best place to go.

Ive only been to one Cowboys game, and we had a private BBQ at the bar/restaurant right by the walmart, but i have probably been to 40 nfl games.

If you get there early, walk around and take in the sights of other people's tailgates. You will be amazed at some of the spreads you will see.

Many teams now limit the time you can spend, such as opening up the parking lot 5 hours or so before a game, but in the old days, people would arrive at stadiums at 7 am for a 4 pm game.

We always park in the same area, and know everyone around us... So much so that we no longer have to bring beer, a guy who parks near us who works at a distributor grabs a few extra cases for us... we reciprocate with the food. We have made lifelong friendships

I have seen full pig roasts, turkey dinners, steaks, lobsters, clams, even silverware. Many people now bring a generator and tv with direct tv hookups to watch the early games.

There is even a guy who brings a trailer with a nice clean bathroom in it.. You pay him $5 and you can use it the whole day.. they guy makes a killing.

Get there early, buy all your stuff the night before...and have fun!

By the way, had you not seen this forum, and went to the game without food, I guarantee you would have not gone hungry... football tailgaters are proud of their food... you would have been taking care of with a smile.

Thanks so much for the awesome responses. I'm looking to find a Parking Pass where tailgating is allowed. Figured it'd be sweet to take my little BBQ grill and cook up some burgers and have a few drinks. Only thing that sucks is I only have 1 ticket. So it's just me going. So maybe if I cook up a ton of extra burgers and have extra drinks so people will come by and hang out. Or I'll scratch the idea of setting my own thing up, and just walk over with a cooler full of drinks/food and chill with Rynie!

Do I have to buy a 'LOT' parking pass where tailgating is allowed, to just go into the tailgating area if I'm walking and not cooking out myself?

Wow... just you? Here is what I would do... start a thread here, tell people its your first game and your solo, and see if anyone will invite you to tailgate with them. Offer to bring something... you'll make some new friends, and won't be alone. Nothing sadder than a solo tailgate.

Here is a better idea... round up some friends.. tickets are on the internet for $15 each.
