First as the game goes, let's not be the whiners that the Lions were last week. Was it a terrible call? I think so, but we should have won the game anyways.
Bad management by Garrett and Romo cost us pretty big in this one. Calling a timeout after we got that lucky spot was a terrible decision by Garrett. Romo not focusing on first downs and trying to push cost us.
Murray's untimely fumbles continue to be a problem, and absolutely makes me not want to see him get paid next year. If we can bring in Adrian Peterson, by all means, that should be a priority.
We gave Marinelli entirely too much credit. The defense was never any good. We need to build this defense next year, and invest in someone who is going to stick around for a while. I don't think we should hire internally either. Outside of Eberflus (and even him leaving wouldn't upset me), I wouldn't mind if we started from scratch on the defensive side of the ball. Jerome Henderson doesn't have players playing the ball at all.
If/When Marinelli leaves, we shouldn't be tied to any specific scheme going forward.
I think we should pay Dez, but we shouldn't break the bank for him. If it comes down to it, franchise him, and if it comes down to it, trade him if you have to. The guy is a playmaker, but he thinks too much of himself and isn't the smartest guy on the field. He can really help you, but he can really hurt you too. Could have cost us the Lions game. And had he just caught the ball instead of reaching for the touchdown, we probably win in Green Bay too. The thing that gets me about that play is that scoring could have been the 2nd worst thing to happen. Rodgers would have taken the field and scored against this defense. They should have focused on moving the chains and taking time off the clock. The Packers only had 1 timeout left.
The offseason has to be about improving this defensive line, with whatever resources we have available.
And a note on Dan Bailey. This guy was money, and then he got his money... It's always disheartening to see a player decline immediately after getting paid. He's been shaky for weeks.
