Positives

First Team Offense looked outstanding ..... especially since they ran such a vanilla one.

First Team Defense looked Dominating and very aggressive.

F. Jones looked good .... real good.

T. Choice looked good

Zack Thomas looks like a kid trying to make the team .... he was in on almost every play.

Tank looked dominating

Austin looked good

Both our drafted young corners looked good

Now the negatives

Pac-man looked lost as hell ..... I am surprised after the "battles" he was said to be having with T.O. at camp.

Amendola looked like a deer in the headlights.

Our Special Teams was horrendous ...... though I understand that most of those guys will be "flipping burgers" in a month.

Bennett looks lost and uninterested

Hurd did not have a good night

Carpenter and Burnett looked average

Backup O-line looks bad

Brad Johnson looks old (but that could be because of the poor o-line)

Most of the young guys did not look like they gave a crap about this game

So basically we have learned nothing from this game other than our starters are still very good.

The next 2 games will give us a better idea ..... hopefully some of the guys were just a little blinded by the "big lights"

...yup

I think I'm gonna need to use a third round pick on Witten in Fantasy Football this year.

Agree with most of that.

Zach, I love him. (Looks to be enjoying his Texas beef though, haha)

Felix, just want I want.

Special teams - I'm not that worried, you are throwing a bunch of different guys out there at different times, the units changed nearly each time.

Burnett and Carp didn't show improvement, but its preseason so I will hold my opinion.

Bartel will not make the team.

Other than that, not very eventful.

And I don't go crazy over anything because ITS PRESEASON!!!

But I love to see football again.

my take:
1st unit offense is outstanding
1st unit defense is outstanding
Amendola appears way overrated. I give him one more shot.
Special Teams continues to be horrid
Felix Jones and Tashard Choice are both high quality backs
Martellus Bennett should be cut on attitude alone
Zach is back
Tank is Cranked
Austin is the guy that Romo was talking about
Hurd might have regressed
Bobby Carpenter is not stout enough to play in the NFL
Kevin Burnett is the most overrated player on this board by far- he's bad
PacMan looked lost
Jenkins looked prepared if not totally ready
Brad Johnson is toast. No arm at all and looks scared at times.
Bartel- reminds me of Cleveland's Derek Anderson a lil bit. If we carry three QB's he makes it- if we go with just 2 it won't be either one of our backups right now.

all in all- I expected better. Our second and third units lacked some physicality.

Let's hope a lot of our backups play better next week then they did today.

What the ### is wrong with our ST? Why don't they still in their own lanes like they are supposed to? This has been going on for 2 years; how long will it take before the ST is special .

Not many reps are spent on special teams at this stage- they will give it the time and attention it deserves soon... about the time of the first roster cuts.

I really dont understand what is so freaking hard about staying in your lane assignment. I learned this the first week of spring training in High School back in the day, it is really not that hard of a concept.

I am starting to think it is coaching, our players cant be that dumb to break lane containment kick after kick after kick. They must be doing what the coach is telling them to, but I am dumbfounded as to why they would be coached to all run at the ball carrier?

Is our ST coach ********?

With you.

And what about all the penalties???...Did the Chargers even have 1 all night?

For a team that has been supposedly having such a sharp camp, how do all these penalties keep cropping back up?

I never thought I could throw the ball well enough to be a starter in the NFL, but I now KNOW BEYOND ANY DOUBTS that I can play second string for the cowboys. yee hii I've always wanted to make millions for doing nothing. Now, you know what Brad and I have in common!!!:bang2:

I agree with the following comments -

Austin was better than Hurd tonight by a lot.
Bartel sucked....he is practice squad unless he can play better.
Bennett sucked...wow...
Jenkins was okay, will get better...
Pacman sucked tonight...very surprised to see him play this poorly.
Kevin Burnett and Bobby Carpenter showed why they are backups...with time running out for them to step it up.

How did Courtney Brown look ?
hard to tell coverage wise.

but on run plays he looked tentative. on one td run, he just stood there like he was bobby carpenter.

bartel is going to get miles killed if he keeps throwing those high balls.

Point I forgot to comment on last night, Brad is a medicine ball thrower...Trying to get his players killed with a majority of those passes

Bartel is just a camp arm ...... He shows something one minute and then looks like a high school QB the next.

Hopefully he will one day put it all together.

Did Stanback do anything?

Did some good things ..... did some stupid things.

His hands seemed much better than they did last year.

My take. First the bad:

As everyone saw, our punt coverage still sucks ***.

If Romo goes down, we're in SERIOUS trouble.

Our backups on the OL line has a long way to go. However, that's probably to be expected when all of them are in at the same time. If we just needed to insert one or two guys with the rest of our starters, we'd probably be O.K.

Pac is obviously rusty.

It's preseason for the officials as well. I know it doesn't matter since it's preseason, but the officials made two terrible calls on pass interferences. The first one in the end zone was terrible. The DB had his head burned and was completely playing the ball. He and the receiver bumped, but it was incidental contact, or at least it should have been. The one on Pac in the third quarter might have been the worse call I've ever seen. The receiver shoved him to the ground and then tripped over him and the interference was made against Pac. Should've been a push-off on the receiver. Oh well, hopefully the officials will get these out of their systems.

The good:

We will have a fantastic running game. Felix and Choice both looked great.

First teamers looked good.

Austin and Curtis caught several balls.

Hard to come up with much good when the players that matter the most see so little of the field.
